Full Kline inconel setup. I've heard about engine bay carbon yellowing and I'm wondering if I should get the headers and mid pipe coated. I know the standard "ceramic" coatings don't do anything, but have seen people refer to this:

    https://swaintech.com/race-coatings/race-coating-descriptions/white-lightning-exhaust-coatings/

The guy who tuned my M3 and tunes many race cars was saying to go with custom heat shields like this:

Have you heard of the engine bay yellowing on the Speciale? When I search, I see the Scud as the issue.

Not sure, but would be real pissed if it happened. They said sticky buttons were a thing of the past, but here we are and the buttons on my Speciale are sticky. Also, it seems like managing the heat and directing it out of the car would be best for performance and minimizing the car from becoming a Roman candle.... An ounce of prevention.... It's just a shame to cover these beautiful pipes... Though, to be fair, you really can't see them from the topside.

Sticky buttons should be fixed on the F8, but we won't know for a few years.

I should get my Kline exhaust in the next few weeks (I ordered in March, you either pulled some strings or ordered in February. :-D) My mechanic is sending them off to get coated. I trust him to do it right.

I will say the Speciale gets a lot hotter than my Italia. I can feel the difference, and you can see the engine turn from blue to green much faster when you go out on a drive. I guess it is just part of having the high strung motor.

Post a video when you get it installed! I'm dying to hear what it sounds like. I'm really really hoping it adds some pitch.

Hahaha! I did place an order in the beginning of February. After three months, I was like, "what's going on?" They were waiting on 200 cell cats. I managed to get them to toss in the controller in the box. :D

That was the other thing: I heard inconel will give it a higher pitch, but then what happens if that white lightning is applied inside and outside of the pipe? The car currently (supposedly....can't see it and I have never opened it up to check) has a Novitec cat back exhaust which drones like mad at 3k rpms. I'm hoping that the full inconel and valve controller will get rid of that. BTW, Kline does offer "the best in class" coating as well (https://www.kline-innovation.com/materials/), but was told that the fee for the last pair of headers done was $1000. The place in NY said it depends, but around $400. They're both white, so maybe very similar.

Those headers get super hot so whether there is yellowing or not it makes sense to either coat or use heat blankets.

I agree with stuff like jethot or the show "ceramic" coating, but the swaintech/zircotec does seem to work. I haven't taken a close look to see what's down there in terms of factory shielding and whether the Kline pieces would be able to leave them in place.

From my experience, you should probably get the headers and cats ceramic coated, the rest of the exhaust is more optional. The cats sit pretty close to the carbon in the engine bay and can discolor it. Mine already has. The cats are also generally the hottest part of the exhaust. The good news is with sport cats you're already going to have a cooler exhaust than stock anyways...
