So whats everyone having, anything different than the norm? I'll be having a Totino's pizza and some Rotel/Velveeta dip, yummy!! I might treat myself to some McDonalds or DQ later or perhaps Sonic if any of them are open. Could not make it home this year for Christmas and damn I'm missing mom's home cooking. :(

Gregg, join the club. Couldn't make it back to San Diego for Christmas with the family this year either...sucks. Hey, forget that pizza crap, get out of the house and have a nice dinner at a restaurant or resort...no need to stay in and get bummed. I'm going to see a movie and then off to a big resort casino here in Santa Fe and doing the whole nine yards Christmas dinner. After pigging out maybe a little Blackjack? Just get out and enjoy the day and be around some other peeps.....Merry Christmas Gregg.

Thanks Dennis but that is not possible where I live, Google Marlin,TX and you will know what I mean. It's a small hick town 30 miles south of Wako,TX with 97.5% of the residents being crack heads or drug dealers and the only REAL restaurant's we have are mom and pop shops who are closed 3-4 days of the week and close at 6-7pm. I'm cool as it will not be the first time this has happened, I will take any care packages sent though pm me lol!

Because it was an easy way into law enforcement. One must realize that the agency's aswell as the public always ***** about not having enough officers but they (the PD's) put such rediculous demands upon entrance that it is tough especially in the big city's such as Houston (who were on a hiring/budget freeze when I graduated the academy). It is easier to get your foot in the door with smaller departments and the most difficult thing about becoming a police officer is getting your first job.

Yet the sun is shining once again as I will soon be going back to Houston or to a town just north of Wako, they have plenty of good eats their.

    Congrats!!

I have a job ready and waiting for me, the one north of Wako, and just need to mail in my background package for the Houston job. One thing that is overlooked is that in Texas they require a minimum of 700 classroom hr's which is the strictest in the US, what do they require in Atlanta?

Alot of agencies here in Texas require atleast 30 or more college credits or military background (strictess in the US) which imho is rediculous. Are you a peace officer now or did you move on?

Traditional. Spiral sliced hickory smoked glazed ham, green bean with pearl onion and baby carrot salad in a special cream of mushroom sauce my wife makes. Jellied and whole cranberry sauce. Oh, and congealed salad we put together this morning. Also a special cornbread stuffing with some mystery ingredients I have been forbade to disclose. Brandied pumpkin pie, plum pudding with hard sauce and a nice wine. Oh, homemade hot rolls dripping butter also.......

We really had to limit ourselves on expenses this year so the dinner with family proved to be the centerpoint of the day............Somehow it was even more meaningful than if we had spent lots of money on each other......

Hope you all had a wonderful day and if you could not be with family that you at least had contact with them to help share their day........

Ended up having 2 meals today.

Meal 2: Homemade chili, either in a bowl or a chili dog. Dessert included homemade chocolate chip pecan cookies, blueberry bread, apple cinammon bread, and Hershey Kisses.

wish I'd known, I could have sent you some of my toffee to go with that yummy pizza!

I went to my parents and we ordered food from a nearby restaurant and brought it home. Everyone had something different. I had veal. ... yummy!

And I made a chocolate pie....not quite as yummy. :( But my toffee was great!

That sucks Gregg. Although I would prefer pizza for Thanksgiving and Christmas at this point.

I'm tired of eating the same, damn, crap every year. I think a Tex-Mex Christmas dinner would be just as traditional as turkey, ham and crap like that.

I feel bad for complaining about food, but I'm ready for a family member to think outside the box.

And don't suggest I have either holiday at my place. I don't have the room in my one bedroom for a family gathering.;)
