chromed by mistake

It is very difficult to tell the difference between chrome and polished stainless. The hubcaps have so many angles and surfaces that it will be almost impossible to tell. I would not worry about it.

 

If chrome were to be applied, then the SS would have to be coated in copper, then will never rust as a base metal?

On an aside, I know it was an accident, but when I sent unknowingly SS to have it chromed with the other stuff that did need chroming, the chrome shop, sent them back polished, but did not chrome.

If they chromed your SS, then possibly not too proper on the part of the shop.

Without posting some photos we can't really provide much of an opinion. Maybe they look OK. So, why not post a photo or two?

 

You Could....Polish them with 0000 steel wool..
