Just a thought... you might want to reconsider going all black on the wheels; tough to keep clean, but mostly will convert the wheelwells into very large black holes, rather than help give definition to the car. Do you really want a batmobile?

    Cheers,
    Rich

Oh this car is far from done, it'll get painted as well, I'm not a purist by any means and the car has no value to me ie: I didn't get it to flip or fret over what I do will affect resale. I believe car can be improved in my head, maybe not everyone else's

Thanks for the pics you sent tonight. That new flywheel is jewelry. Definitely the way to go for anyone doing a build.

Since half the engines out, today I pulled the fuel filter out to replace it, who on earth decided to put that thing in there buried beyond belief, I had total access and it still sucked. Decided to cut it open and have a look see, nothing really in there but the casing was thick and nice so........

I tossed it in the bead roller, put some ribs in it for speed and obvious racing, some fuel line, Bam,.... Super custom ferrari fluid funnel. Of course I was so distracted by this, I didn't put the new filter in the car, a 3 day process

Well that was horrible. Today I decided to do the lower fuel lines, they were replaced at some point with the terrible fabric like hoses. These have absolutely no reinforcment to them, the drivers tank to fuel pump was slightly swelled. Went to west marine to get fuel/ethnol safe half inch hose for that. Debated putting a spring over it, but hose looked fine

Next came the cross over pipe, sliced a hole in that and let the remaining gas run down my arm, splash my pants, generally get it everywhere. It wasn't till I did passenger side that I noticed a drain cock. I was full of hatred and disgust by then anyways. So I noticed it was way to easy to take a razor and cut the old hose off, I was able to tear it to pieces with my bare hands, sure I'm incredibly strong but this was wasn't my old tear a phone book in half for Jesus routine. The rubber had cracks everywhere on the inside of it. It would've been a future disaster. Fellow FC member Ben had the wizened sense to send me some proper reinforced fuel tubing, I was able to pull crossover tube to the side and slip my hose right over it (I'm turning myself on, back in a minute)......... Then used stainless wurth clamps that are solid, no screw slots. I'll never have to worry about is again

Herr Von Barron, just FYI, www.belmetric.com, great supplier in Massachusetts, sells hose by Continental, rated for fuel, vacuum etc which is the Euro Style cotton braided exterior but with metal reinforcement wires embedded for extra oomph. Available in various metric ID's. I just used it for 911 brake booster hose...need a strong walled hose to avoid it cavitating under vacuum. They also sell all kinds of other cool hardware-related stuff for Euro cars. John in CT.

Not much to report, life's getting in the way. I did however just "craigslist rebuild" the starter, on the east coast it'd be know as a "Tennessee earner"
It was looking a little beat up, works fine so.....

Voilà, all rebuilt, now I'll be able to boast how the starter has been recently refurbished. Can't wait to see how amazing it looks installed

Got the clutch in tonight, painted the pressure plate gold because why not, that was the easy part, luckily I have a wasted clutch shaft so now I have a pretty fancy alignment tool

Next came the clutch housing, since I replaced the shaft I was able to discover that the oil passage ways for the big bearing and return hole were plugged with old silicone, can't be a good thing right?

Next I file faced the oil sealing area, it was all marked up from previous folks prying in the wrong spot, just a little clean up

I glued in the new O rings with rear end seal, let them dry over night, what I didn't catch is that the superformance O ring was a little fatter for the drive shaft, the old one was a skinny little nothing. I used rear end seal for all the sealing surface, it can handle that 80/90 weight and not get eaten up. I also discovered a small time capsule area in the engine that gets sealed in with the housing. I naturally put a good luck wish ticket in there along with an old iron cross valve cap. The next guy in there I'm sure with squeal with delight with the discovery
