So here's the potential problem, I put the housing on and hand tightened it, I let it sit awhile before giving it the final squish, checked O rings and everybody was lined up. Then I look down the drive shaft and can see the O ring was forced out of the groove by the sealer, it's now just sitting in the groove edge. I'm pretty confident that it's sealed and isn't under any pressure so I'm going to leave it. Hopefully it doesn't bite me later. This is where the good luck wish ticket comes into play

Make sure you use the same size o-rings. Sometimes they are hard to find.

Dont stress. I recently changed my clutch and could not stop the O ring from being forced out of the groove by the RTV. I tried several times but each time the O ring lost shape, very frustrating! However it has not been an issue + you got that goodluck wish tix!

Got the clutch all back together, all filled up and no leaks. I use a Lucas mixture in some of my racers, never leaks and never shift problems, my dirty little secret is tossing a third of mix with Lucas hub oil, sticks to everything, won't sling off gears, you can run a trans empty and you won't lose it. I invite an oil debate, yes it has all the additives you need.

The interesting thing is I only pulled about 2 quarts out of the tranny when I started, same with the radiator, no overheating problems, couldn't resist not customizing something, clutch cover got a nod to the term "little leader" don't worry guys, I'll knock 10 grand off if I sell the car

While putting the hoses back in place, the heater hose if you remember I cut the end off from the rubber being toast, well a closer look told me all 12 feet of it was bad and rotten, I've read up on this job of yanking hose thru the body, nightmare, horror, life defeating, few days killer. I ran down to west marine, it's where I get my hoses, always in stock and resists everything, 15 feet later, and fifteen minutes the job was done, beyond easy. I removed the front wheel well, snipped the old hose, put a coupler between old hose and new and pulled it right thru with twisting it as you go. I decided a few hours later I'd be an idiot if I didn't replace the brake vacuum line while I'm in there, back to west marine... Good thing I did this, when removing line from intake plenum, the hose was stiff and cracked, this would have led to intake leak and running terrible

Time to put the front wheel well in, I look up and notice the undercoating is bubbled underneath the top portion of fender, someone's been driving this thing on east coast winter roads or in Europe. Little scraping revealed I need to paint with some Por15 and never think about it again

Making my way back to the pulley side of the engine I remembered the heat shield disaster for the alternator, well it's time to button up that side so.....

Found an old aluminum sign that had a pretty good thickness, made a pattern that was a little more form fitting, also made it longer to get rid of the heat directly under the crank pulley/alternator belt

I have been enjoying your wit as well as your expertise on this thread. Knowing this, I'm really curious what is on the flip side of the aluminum sign. I can't imagine that you don't have something going on there...

How dare you assume I swiped one of the signs my wife payed eighty bucks to have made to keep the riffraff out of my culdesac, nevermind that I failed to put this up in a timely fashion. It's now an $80 heat shield

Had a pretty good day working on the car, forgot to snap pix of the fiberglass repair to the air intakes, I also reinforced the terribly weak little mount tabs with aluminum as a backer. Now it's time to remake the access cover under the front of the car, the one that opens access to water hoses. Mine was beat to death, curled like pringle. I have a stash of Boeing surplus aircraft aluminum, I bought them out before it closed to the public

Sheared off a piece of the good stuff, no idea the mill but it's three times the thickness of the Ferrari junk and it makes airplanes fly so I must be right

Then I went ahead and used my new 100 year old punch press, it came with a Louver die, but it's an old one, you kind of freestyle it, new ones index themselves. As a result my louvers are off a tiny bit and screams hand made Ferrari stuff

Now I'd like to tell you how amazing I am and engineered the louvers so two rows scoop air and the others let it out. Truth is I got confused and ran one row the wrong way so I matched it, there was no way I was going to make a new one out of my aerospace aluminum
