Howdy, has any of you enthusiasts heard of the PULSE PLUG? It is a new form of spark pug that ignites 10x hotter than conventional spark pugs thus increasing hp and torque and improving gas mileage. You can read about them at PULSESTARPLUG.COM They sound 2 g 2 b true but there write up is impressive and they have a video of ignition as well. They do not recommend them for cars with after market superchargers of turbos. Look forward to your expert opinion. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The pulse plug flames are brighter, hotter, faster-expanding, and caused by higher voltage (all good things) than the spark from a traditional spark plug, but the flame front doesn't last as long (a bad thing for burning all of the fuel/air in a charge).
Thanks for the correction and suggestion Mike. No Doubt sounds like you have had experience with these before, I gather you do not recommend them.
Neither pro nor con. They will improve some cars a bit...others they will degrade performance/mileage/emissions.
Thats funny, a 10x better igniting plug NOT recommended for a blower nor turbo? All forced inducted vehicles would benefit from stronger spark to keep the spark from being blown out under boost. Another advertising gimic are the air/fuel/spark claims from other companies that "our products will increase your horsepower and increase fuel mileage....." Think about it, real power increases need more air and fuel. Last I checked the more air/fuel burned, the less mileage.
Glad to see you got out of your boat, Dave. Hope your project is going well and we hear from you next year from some exotic Caribbean isle. If you need a crew for the voyage out of Lake Mich, ...
