I have been a long time Porsche driver. Coming up the ranks from a Boxster S, and after several different 911 models in between to my current 2013 Turbo S. Last July I purchased my first Ferrari, a 2010 599 GTB. There isn't much I can say about the 599 that has not already been said. This was the beginning of a love affair with the Ferrari marque. I became so smitten with the prancing horse that I just bought my second Ferrari. A 2011 458 Italia, which I picked up yesterday. I took it easy on the drive home so we could get to know each other. However, today I took the afternoon off from work and went for a short drive in the hills near my house. OMG! The exhaust note, the acceleration, the smooth up shifts, the blip of the engine when it down shifts, etc. are magnificent. I agree with Jeremy Clarkson, this car is brilliant. I think I will stayed married to Porsche, but my mistress(es) will be Ferraris.

I have taken factory delivery of my last 3 Porsches (GT3-2010, Carrera GTS-2011, Turbo S-2012). I have been able to enjoy these cars on the autobahn, some of the most spectacular mountain passes in Europe, including Stelvio Pass, and in the case of the GT3 on the N-Ring. My goal is to take factory delivery of a 458 next year or the year after, and to take it to all the places I have taken my Porsches. Hope they don't get jealous. It would be great to hear from anyone who has picked up their car(s) in Maranello, and to get some pointers on taking factory delivery. I hear the Italians are not as organized as the Germans, but they try hard to make it a pleasant experience.

So with that said, greetings to all you Ferrari drivers (I assume you do drive your cars), in particular to the Rocky Mountain Region. It was a pleasure meeting some of you last Saturday at Cars & Coffee in Lafayette.

    Drive often and be safe,

    Bob
