I've never heard that being an issue. The charge is about always deducted by the time you dispute it. I'd call back and try again and if you get the same answer ask for a supervisor.
i am with the private banking arm of this bank & that's what my banker said ... but you are correct ... i think i need to shake him out of his slumber ...
You didn't use a debit card did you? Then I might be able to see them saying that the money was already deducted from your account. Not sure what the process would be then but I would guess they'd be right and you'd be on your own. Worth checking again though.
Had another one from my odds and ends. San Cristobal Elegancia. Nice smoke. Amazing draw and good smoke especially at it's price.
visa ... no, not a debit card ... ============== here's an update ... with a gist of what happened - the order was placed on june 4, 2013. i asked for it to be split into 2 due to import restrictions at my end. the 2nd order was to be shipped a few days after the 1st. some days later, i was given a tracking number that lead nowhere - a site with a language i cld not comprehend and the page remained the same day in and day out. google translation said "in progress". somewhere along the way, they accused me (tried passing the buck) for providing "inconsistencies" between the billing address and shipping address. the site that actually deducted the payment showed identical addresses on the transaction receipt. so their stand was a load of crap. all this led me to believe i had been scammed. i repeatedly demanded a full refund and they said that until the goods were back in their warehouse, they would not do so. keep in mind that as per their admission, they did not ship due to "inconsistencies" in the address. 3 days ago i received an email that the 1st shipment was finally back in their warehouse and the 2nd would be delivered. they have promised to refund money for the 1st shipment in the next 3 days. i'll believe it when i get it. it's taken them 6 weeks or so to acknowledge possession of a shipment which they voluntarily admitted never left their facility. i received the 2nd order yesterday, some 6 weeks after placing the order. the box contained cigars that were severely flaking and covered with some kind of whitish hard crust / residue. i binned it. i have never seen cigars like these in my life ... and i've been chomping them for over 25 years. i've written off the money toward experience ... just under usd $900. and with a hope that some of you will have learnt something from my experience and will stay away from thieves like these. feel free to google reviews on "royal habanos" ... at cigar inspector or other sites ... in retrospect, i shld hv done so. i wld never hv ordered from them. sorry for the long post, but i needed to get it out of my system.
Guess so!! I had a great evening sitting by the fire with a nice Macanudo maduro vintage 1997. Nice smoke!!
No worries. Again, I do not see how the CC company will not protect you under the CC fraud laws. (If you are in the US) But either way, I have never had trouble disputing a charge from any CC company I have ever attempted it with.
Spent the day at the horse track. Enjoyed a great Fuente Añejo Shark and a Don Arturo Gran AnniverXario . Real good day.
i've put it in writing with them ... waiting for a response ... will keep u posted ... tnx agn doc ...
La Palina Goldie laguito no 5 came in this weekend. Phenomenal cigar, extremely complex, reminds one of RASS. Closest thing to a Cuban you can legally buy in the states.
Saw a box of Esplendidos yesterday. Everything looked right; nothing out of place. Recent production, mar '13 if I recall... But, the smell really struck me. pungent. like I stepped out of the city and directly onto a farm. Not at all like the Dominican cigars I am accustomed to. What's the deal with that smell? Good sign? Bad Sign?
One of the biggest problems I've found with Cuban Cohibas is their inconsistency. When they're good, they can be phenomenal. Otherwise, they outright can be terrible. I'm guessing you're smelling a by-product of improper processing of the cigar where ammonia aromas are still being degassed from the tobacco. Just lay them down in your humidor and check them again in about a year and see how they've progressed. For Cubans, I usually order from Gerard in Geneve. His prices are usually significant Y higher than other sources, but he ages the cigars, hand selects them for you and his quality is so superior to everyone else that it's worth it - especially if you're looking to smoke in the near term. My last box of monte2 from Gerard was outstanding. We sucked them down in no time. Boight a box from puro express and it was lackluster. I'm guessing it will take up to 2 years of aging before those are ready to smoke.
Remember, humans make these by hand. There will be some variance always. Had a nice monte #2 while golfing today. Fuente Fuente sun grown Don Arturo Gran Anniverxario tonight
I had a Padron 1926 40th anniversary last Sunday while golfing. Man that was an amazing smoke. I smoked it down so short I was about burning my fingers.
