If there was a shop that came on as a sponsor for Fchat and offered free shipping, would any of you guys be inclined to order via email or phone?

I would not solely for the reason that I'm across the border and the complications that come with it (specifically tobacco)

Great advice. If you want a smaller one to try find some Fuente Hemingway Short stories. Very good small cigars with a larger cigar taste... Arturo Fuente Hemingway - Cigars International

In fact a Short Story sounded so good I lit one up while prepping dinner and getting grill warm.

    Paul,

For once, I have an occasion to share some experience with you instead of contradicting you, so I use it!

The “traditional method” to “learn cigars” that was told to me by the chief supervisor of my college 37 years ago – he had a good knowledge of Cuban cigars - has worked well for me.
You can either discover cigars “vertically” by exploring a brand, or “horizontally” by exploring a module (vitole).

Whenever you find a cigar you like, you can then explore:
    - that brand by smoking different modules from the same brand, and you will soon know if it is the brand you like, or the module.
    - that module (vitole) by smoking the same module from other brands ,and you will soon know if it is the module you liked, or the brand.
(Do not forget that cigars, notably cuban, can vary in taste between two same cigars from the same brand, so repeat when necessary to be sure...)

He also advised that there were Habanos (Puros) and “all the rest”, and didn’t think much of “the rest”; we never had any embargo on Cuban cigars here, so Habanos it was.
37 years later, I’m still smoking almost exclusively:

    - Panetellas and grand panetellas:
Monte Cristo “Especial n° 1” (a “Laguito” in Spanish)– even if the quality of Monte-Cristos had varied from year to year, notably on the “Especial” n°2 (also a “Laguito”), which at some time during the production was rolled so tightly that it was difficult to smoke.
    Partagas “Serie du Connaisseur” n°1 (a « Delicado » in Spanish) or n°2 (a « Parejo »)

    - Lonsdales: Partagas “8-9-8” varnished box or Sancho Panza “Molinos”, but that one has become very difficult to find these days, so sometimes I turn to Montecristo n°1, Rafael Gonzales or El Rey del Mundo…

occasionally a Churchill (Romeo y Julietta) or the famous “Sanchos” from Sancho Panza, but Grand Panetellas and Lonsdales are the two modules I’m most at ease with, and usually the one I use to discover a new brand. I also prefer them “Colorado Claro”, or “Colorado”.

    Rgds

I'm actually pretty well stocked after a buying binge over the last year or so. But I might be willing to buy a few here and there from a known source.

Not a problem at all. Keep in mind i don't recommend buying off Thomson per say as I didn't enjoy it but just the cigars I recommend.

If you have any other questions just let us know!

    Pete,

Saw them not long ago just never got into trying them. Maybe I should make the move next time I see a box of it. Right now my humidor sits quite well.

Location was my gf's cottage on Six Mile Lake ( Welcome to Six Mile Lake Provincial Park ). Weather was perfect this weekend so we got plenty of sun and some boating in.

Now I'm off to Washington area for a couple of days.

Yep that's a Hemmingway series with both natural and Maduro barber pole. It's a holiday release - Hemmingway maduros, Añejos and Opus X traditionally get sent to authorized retailers together in the late fall/early winter.

its a great shipment to get!

    Yes sir, I'll be there!

Need to get in touch with John in Nola.

We could do a small Fchat meetup and burn a few!

yes indeed!!!!! let's begin to put a plan in place. I am also curious of what to expect for the show? will we need a bag to put all the free sticks in or are the vendors loathe to give out freebies?

It's my first trip also. But I know that you will not be able to carry in your hands all of the samples and free cigars and swag. Leave room in your luggage for the trip home.

Not going to say all the samples will be good, but you can expect 100+ cigars.

A lot of the new brands won't even make it a year before folding. But you'll get some gems as well.

Are you a retailer or just tagging along with a retailer?

    Quick Question.

I usually smoke Avo, or Opus X when Im really in the mood. On July 4th I had a pool party and a few of the guys were like yea, I smoke cigars, So I go and hand out what I had in the box. Now two guys from the beginning were like I don't know if I like Cigars, but I was like hey try it.

They smoked 1/4 of the cigar and put it out. Now this has happened to me on many other occasions.

So my question is: Do you guys keep cheap cigars in your box for this exact reason, or am I being cheap?
