Need better pics of the bands to tell.
    They are Cohiba Torpedoes............

They should be Cuban...........but could be Nicuaragan knock offs.

sorry to say they look fake to me. Real Cohiba cigars have raised gold lettering and the bands are 15 mm wide. Many fakes are flat gold lettering and the bands are in the 17 mm range you will also see that the wrapper leaves are uniform chocolate color as opposed to several shades of brown in the knockoffs. The Cohiba Esplendido is a nice smoke but not worth breaking federal law to smoke. There are a LOT of Dominican smokes that are just as good if not better than a lot of stuff that comes from Cuba. People talk the Cubans up so much because we can't get them here and can't smoke them abroad anymore...Bush signed a Trading with the Enemy bill into law a couple of years ago stating that Americans can't, among other things, smoke Cuban cigars even when not on American soil.

Here is my advice...try one and if you like it smoke the rest. If you hate it then give them out as gifts. If you like a mild smoke try an Ashton Corona, they retail at about 7 bucks a stick but you can get them cheaper online or at a dicount tobacco store. Good luck.

the packaging is what worries me. it was the case that the shaped cigars were seldom fakes as they required a master roller to produce a high quality stick...i don't know if they are real but if they ae, they will be a nice smoke and would be worth $30 per stick.

I will look closely at the label later on today, and hopefully post pictures to get further opinions. They came in 5 packs of 5 cigars for $400. They also came with a certificate of authenticity. These were bought in Nicaragua while a friend of mine was on vacation in a classy cigar shop. They look nice, but I am unfamiliar.

P.S- If you have 1 cigar a week, what are the health risks involved? Not inhaling.

Insurance companies say smoking 1 cigar a month or 12 per year or less qualifies you as a non-smoker. One per week would classify you as a smoker.

Is that TRUE? If so that is awesome as I always worry about taking an insurance physical that I will spike the nicotine warning flags. I smoke about 12 per year...the wife hates the smell.

Always my understanding that a real cuban cigar would never be wrapped in cello... I am pretty sure those are fake...

Those look as fake as the day is long (packaging). Everybody and their mother are producing "Cohiba" cigars and advertising them as Cuban.

I agree with Buzz. Ashtons (Corona) is an excellent cigars (have them in my personal humidor). So are Avo's and Macanudo (Vintage of course). Cubans are overated. Everybody wants them because they can't get them.

Give them as gifts to your friends and let them think they are real. You'll probably get more out of them that way then actually smoking them.

Since I have been researching more and more about finding out if these are real or not, I have found cigars quite interesting. There are so many different kinds, with different flavors available, representing different parts of the world, etc...I may begin a small collection. I have never smoked in my life, and don't really want to start as I am a very healthy person. Are there any health risks of sampling 1 or 2 a month? Is there anyway that is bad for you? Sorry if that is a dumb question, but I've never even looked into it to know the answer.

    Thanks again for the tips.

Find a good small cigar shop and try different things.

Head over to cigarweekly.com and read the forums and ask some questions. There is a lot to learn. It can be like wine.

I like Nicaraguan cigars and smoke mostly things from Padron but I also like Ashton VSG which are dominican.

My starting out cigars were C.A.O. Golds and then I went to the C.A.O. Anniv. Cameroons. My local store stopped carrying them and I found Padron and have been hooked since.

There could be a health risk with taking anything foreign into the body but I think the body can recover very easily from one or two cigars a month without any real long term problems. I could be wrong though, ask me in 50 years.

I suggested a good small shop because these type places usually have a staff that know the products well and are able to point you toward certain things and help you with questions you may have.

Watch out for the places that are more cigarette shops that happen to have a humidor too. These type places tend to not keep their cigars in good condition and the people working there are just there to mind the store and don't really know anything.

Ahh the Avo...what a smoke...perfect after a nice dinner, preferably with red meat as the main course, and a nice port. Try the Domaine Avo 60 this is a 5X43 corona with a nice full taste...need to like the taste of a cigar but the depth is unbelievable. This is the stick that I handed out when my daughter was born. Another $8ish smoke...although you can get them online for about $6ish.

The only reason that everyone freaks and spends $25 a stick on the cubans is like MJT said...you can't get them...same reason that the Fuente Fuente Opus X Perfexion A is $80 per smoke if you can find it....nice smoke but it better buy me dinner for the better part of a C note.
