I don't smoke so I'm hopelessly uninformed. There is a guy at work that walks around with an unlit cigar in his mouth ala Hannibal from A Team.
Is there any reason for this? Is he chewing the thing? Help me out here.

As an avid cigar-smoker, I do not know of one. Other than image, I can't guess why someone would do that. The only reason to have an unlit cigar in your mouth is because you are about to light it or are merely waiting for a drink to be served with it.

It's a way for some guys to work themselves off of either smoking or dipping. You chew a little into your mouth for some nicotine and it keeps that feeling of something in your mouth kinda like you are smoking.

I have a friend that always has a cigar in his mouth, it is hardly ever lit. He chews on it all day long.
