On my ‘83 QV US 308 the cigarette lighter was shorting everything on the fuse so I disconnected it and I pulled the assembly. My assembly only has a 2 wire connection (blk and green/yellow). Should the ‘83 have a light too and another connection? I did find a random blk/yellow wire that is not connected to anything right by the assembly/hole. Questions: 1. Anyone have the wiring diagram or know the wiring for that area? 2. Should I have a light there w/ green plastic bezel? 3. Which is the correct lighter? I’ve seen two versions. Ribbed with a cig illustration OR plain black one. thanks in advance Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just had issues with my lighter shorting out and I might shed some light on your situation. I have a 328 GTS and the stock lighter looked like the photo of the one with a plain black knob. That green socket looks like the superseded part which did not really work. My lighter had 4 wires, two on each terminal, one of which was connected to the hazard switch, and the yellow wire near the socket you mentioned attaches to that little socket on the side of the lighter base which is a light bulb that lights up when the lighter is in use. I ended up being lucky enough to find a stock black knob lighter. Hope some of this helps.
Thanks and wonder if the 328 is the same wiring as the 308. I’ll have to check my hazard switch to see if there is a connection there.
The wiring diagram for your year/model/version is in the back of your 260/83 OM -- do you not have an OM? You can get a pdf copy of 260/83 here if you don't have a printed copy: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/440txdcp42aes2gwfs87s/MUM_308QuattroValvoleusa260_83.pdf?rlkey=0egtgjv4hcopq60npnlck7acz&st=clfo7pwh&dl=0 (It shows the three wire colors that you mention, and the GN (yellow-black) wire is for the illumination light), but it also seems to indicate that you need to get the N (Black) wire and GV (yellow-green) wire connected to the proper terminals, and it doesn't show any clear polarization on the wires. (Black is the ground, so if the cigarette lighter has a terminal on a metal outer case, try putting the black there.)
VERY helpful and thank you very much. I have the owner's manual, but the schematic was so small I couldn't read any of it. Now the question, why the two variants for the lighter itself.
Probably just for different year/model/version Fs (or vendor changes, part substitution, etc. over the years -- Ferrari wasn't the manufacturer of the cigarette lighter). You can go here: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/ and look up the part numbers, and often get a photo, of various F cigarette lighters.
If this is similar to BRICO in our dinos there are 3 extended sides that are thermocouple to release when hot. These are the sorce of problems and adjustments so I would be inclined to resolve this by watching extension and the adjustments can be manually made. perhaps teh new one has agood price and your time is saved on getting the new one, but i have seen many that can be repaired if you understnd the workings
