I just finished replacing the timing belts (and tensioners) on my 1985 Euro Mondial Cabriolet. (THANK YOU BIRDMAN!!!!!) Now I am looking for a few parts I am missing to complete the car. I am missing the trouble lamp PN 40179202 and the Cigarette Lighter. I see that Dennis McCann seems to have the trouble light, but I am having an issue with the lighter. There is this funky looking receptacle in the console for the lighter, but my searches for the correct part number have turned into these wierd circular "superceded by" references that seem to go on forever. I looked around here and just saw a lot of people wanting to put a "normal" socket in. Anyone know what I should be looking for?
    Thanks much.

Assuming that the '84 is the same as an '87, that isn't a socket, it IS the lighter. You pull up on the ring around it toe start it then hold the cigarette down into the narrow opening. You can't plug anything into it. The trouble light plugs into a socket inside the glovebox, which is a small metal socket on the right side (i think) as you look in.

    That does explain it.

Yep, that is correct. On my (non Concourse) 308 GT4, I replaced it with an ordinary cigarette lighter that I bought from one of the autoparts stores. Now I can plug in my phone, etc.

It was an easy job to do, although I mangled the original when taking it out...

There's a demand for the "fixed lighters".....John Feeney is looking for one.

Don't 'mangle' it taking it out obviously......

Yeah, if anyone has an original, albeit useless one -- let me know.

    Dom,

    How mangled? :)
