Sorry, but I don't know of many good cutters, I bought a Calibriti lighter, with a punch built in which is what I use whenever I smoke. My favorite cigars are as follows: Dunhill, Macanudo Gold, and the best cigar I've ever smoked: a Diamond Crown....gotta love silky cigars :)

Any guillotine style cutter is fine - all of mine are freebies from the cigar store. The Colibri lighters are outstanding, BTW. Matches work, but Colibris work in the wind and since I can only smoke outdoors ...

    Fave smokes:
Montecristos and Cohibas from you know where
    La Gloria Cubana
    Montesino
    Ashton Cabinet

Lots of others, too, preferably spicy and kinda strong (The Montesinos are very mild by classy, not wimpy, and are perfect for the golf course if you forget what they cost).

JR knock-offs aren't too bad, go figure.

Best cutter out there is the Xikar cutter. Fantastic cut, lifetime warranty, and they will pay the shipping and sharpen the blades if ever dulls. Very expensive but you can get a standard model from JRcigars.com for fairly cheap. I give them as bday/Christmas presents all the time.

    http://www.jrcigar.com/index.cfm?page=accessories_detail&ItemCode=3CCX12&type=SMA

Favorite Cigars right now have to be AVO VSOP. Fantastic cigar that is smooth but very full. Not harsh at all, just very full of flavor. I hate cigars that are just punch you in the mouth harsh or so sweet they make you sick.

Others in the Humidor right now:

    Natural:
    Montecristo White (2nd Favorite Cigar)
    H. Upman Special Sel. Rothchilde

    Maduro:
    Montecristo Afrique Jambo
Montecristo Vintage '93 Club Cab. 30
    Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro
    TTT Trinidad Maduro

Try Thompson Cigar Combo #1. http://www.thompsoncigar.com/default.aspx?sid=ghuuscquronzglaqxpq1mr55&uid=8&CategoryID=Cigar+Cutters&page=pattern
For most cigars, the guillitine or punch style cutters work great. But for Torpedos, I like to use a scissor style cutter. I'd recommend not getting combo #2, because the notch cutter is a piece of crap and works just as well as biting off the end with your teeth.

I'm going to love this thread. You should start another thread and call it "Lets see your humidor."

Right now, I'm enjoying Gurkha Legend, Punch Gran Puro, and Macanudo Maduro. I just got a few of my favorite cigar today. Pardon Anniversary. Amazing cigar!:D

The xikars are good but now only the plastic one is made with german steel. I have the titanium finish one and it goes dull pretty quick if it is used often. They will replace it everytime it dulls but you have to go through the hassle of sending it in.

I've heard good things about the Palio cutters as well.

My favorite cigars are Padron Delicias Natural. I like the la gloria cubana serie R, the C.A.O. Criollo. After everything I try I always go back to the Padron. Whenever I smoke something new I feel as if I'm missing something and have to go smoke a Padron.

Been a while since I had a Padron. Forgot how much I loved them at one point. Going to have to buy a box now!

yeah, the calibriti lighters work real well...im so used to smoking outside...(can't smoke in the college dorms) i went to the dominican republic about a year and a half ago...and yes, those cohibas from that one place that i forgot the name of are very good...another good cigar is the Diablo...very spicy, i got a free sample at my local cigar shop, and have liked them ever since, but they do have a kick to them...not for everyone

Best cutter IMHO is the Zino/Davidoff. I've had mine for 10 years and it still cuts as sharp as the day I bought it. Just the basic twin blade, plastic handled one is the one I have. I think it was about $40 back then.

My favorite cigar of all time is between a Griffins No. 300 or an Opus X (any size). For something a little less expensive though, the Montesino Diplomatico is excellent.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

the padrons are great, i keep a box in the humi all the time. The regular line has a unrefined earthy flavor to them that I really like. The 64's and 26's are good but too smooth and refined for my everyday taste.

My local shop can't even get them. They get normal Fuente stuff but not OpusX or the Sharks at Christmas.
There is a local shop about an hour away that gets a lot. He is supposedly friends with the Fuentes.

Cutters are all pretty much the same, if you get a sharp one. Everything else is mostly looks (some have a better shape which lends itself to a better grip which can help you cut well).. That said, I generally much prefer a punch to a cutter. With a punch, you get a perfect little hole without risking taking off too much of the cap. Cigar stays together better and you don't get tobacco shreds in your mouth. Also, if the punch is good and the *cigar* is good (i.e. well assembled and not too dry), you get just as good flow of air/smoke through it with a punch as by shearing off the whole end with a cutter.

Fave cigars: Montecristo usually, Cohiba when I want a real kick. (Cuban of course. I bring them back when I travel.)

    Good luck.

I agree with you on the cutters, the most major difference between a punch and a cut is that occasionally with a punch you don't get an even draw. But a punch is what I use 9 times out of ten, so I can't really complain. I was able to bring a few cohibas back from Costa Rica the last time I travelled...pretty good but unfortunately a little dried out from the time out of the humidor

the cut depends on how you smoke the cigar. if your a puffer then the guillotine cutter works fine but if you're a chewer you'll need a smaller cut. i'm a chewer so depending on ring size, for a big fat boy a punch, if sharp, works good. as a rule i usually make a cats eye cut with my pocket knife. it leaves most of the cap so the end of the cigar hold together longer. the best cigars are the ones someone gives you. my favorites are cuban cohiba corona especials. my daily smoke is a bances maduro. nice dark wrapper. nice low price.

It's probably scarier that i have my inventory in an Excel sheet  I try to let them sit for a while before I smoke 'em...it's probably some kind of OCD i have...evnetually i'll inventory each cigar individually and record the date it was added :| not quite there yet, though.
