Picked up my first Ferrari a couple weeks ago. The 458 is way too much car to fully enjoy on public streets. It was a great car for the track though. The exhaust sound is fantastic, and the overall car with a oem setup was more than capable for a casual DE event. The 458 is 4 seconds a lap slower than my track-setup GT3RS is at COTA, I expected it to be so no surprise but I thought I would reach higher top speeds coming into T12 but they were the same to slightly slower than the RS. Overall I'm very happy with the car at the track and on the street the 458 is a lot more fun than the RS.

I used the Pagid RSC1 pads front and rear on oem rotors, and Prospeed RS683 brake fluid along with 19' forgeline GA1R's with 235/35/19 Hoosier R6 on the front and 295/35/19 Hoosier R6 on the rear. Both are about 1" shorter than the stock 20" and didn't cause any traction, stability or abs faults.

Road America is up next for the NASA event in early August.

    looks like fun :)

just curious, if you bought a 458 as a track toy, why not go with a challenge car vs. a road car?

I really like the fact that you use the 458 for it's purpose, RACING!!! How did the R6's react at the track? What pressures were you running in them? Did you heat cycle the tires? From what I've seen, the 458 should be about equal if not a bit quicker than a RS unless your GT3 is better equipped.

Wanted something fun on the track and street :). When my kids get older I'll start with challenge racing.

Love the R6's. We run them exclusively along with Pagid and Forgeline. I like them 26-28psi cold / 34-36psi hot. Tire pressures are personal preference and track dependent but those are good starting points and fine tune from there.

My RS is setup exclusively for the track with full monoball suspension, harnesses, etc. I think there is a couple seconds available in the 458 just from a more aggressive alignment. The fronts were almost corded inside and out shoulders but the rears still looked new.

Let me know of you have more questions.
