    I think I have a bad relay on my ECU controlling the seats and top. Wondering if anyone has tried to repair (or sent out to repair) the circuit board vs replacing the whole thing?

    My electrical pay grade ends at IDing that the board is bad. I have checked the harnesses and switches. I have seen a post somewhere where some one repaired their board. I am looking for an electrical shop that can ID the exact issue and repair the board vs replace the whole thing.

    Here are some notes from when I was looking into a similar issue. I originally thought it was a relay, but it was actually one of the IC's on the board. I ended up having to replace the ECU. I'll look around tomorrow to see if I still have my old one. I might be able to pull a relay off of it if I do. Note that a bad seat potentiometer can also cause similar symptoms to a bad relay.     Were you able to narrow down the issue at all? I found my old ECU if you still need a relay.

    If you find you need anyone to help rebuild your ECU/Circuit board, etc, there's a great guy that works on ECU issues on Acura NSX.

    it's not fcar...but imagine he could do help.

    No problem. If one of your seats isn't moving one or both ways, try disconnecting the potentiometer. If it moves with the potentiometer disconnected then that is your issue. There is a Jaguar replacement part I believe. It is discussed in another post on this site.

    OK, I have this exact problem:
    I am having trouble with the passenger power seat only working in one direction. I was finally able to get the passenger seat out and have narrowed down the problem. There seems to be a relay inside a black electronics box that is attached to the side of the hydrolic pump for the top. You can hear the click coming from the box when you move the driver's seat back and forth. The passenger seat only makes the click sound in one direction. I verified that the issue is not with the switch by using the passenger side switch to control the driver side seat, so it must be inside the box or wiring related. I can also move the passenger seat in both directions by switching polarity on the wires, so it is not motor related. Ferrari only sells the box as a very pricey complete unit. I'm thinking about opening the box and see if I can just repair the one relay that is causing the issue instead of replacing the entire box. Does anybody have any experience with this, or any other thoughts of what to try?
    Also, when I measure the voltage on the passenger seat motor wires with a meter, I see 12V when the switch is in the forward direction and 0V when it is in the off, or reverse direction. I believe some relays inside the box select forward or reverse polarity.

    Seems like the resolution was to replace the ECU. (Loser any other info?)

    I have tried the seats with the potentiometers connected and disconneted and the driver seat will only move forward. I have reversed the polarity on the wires and can get the driver seat to move backwards (but not forwards) so it is not the switch or the seat motor.

    Just found this thread. I bought my 355 with the seats rewired to bypass the factory wiring and switches. Not sure why a previous owner did this, but I assumed because the ECU went bad and they didn't want to spend $3500 on a new one; I can understand that.

    I bought the proper switches for the seats and the top, took out all of the added-in wiring, and hooked everything up properly. Fortunately whoever did the wiring didn't cut out anything, just tucked the factory wires under the rear carpet. When I tried it, it didn't work. I decided to take out the ECU and see what I could do at that point. When I took out the ECU I realized it was not connected to anything! I took it out and took it apart. The relays tested fine. There was one factory solder joint that looked a little suspect. Can't say for sure if that was a problem or not, but I re-soldered it. The other thing I noticed is that the connectors for the ECU (on the wiring harness side) were really dirty. I used Deoxit (which is the most amazing contact cleaner ever invented) to give all the contacts a good cleaning. Plugged it all together and the seats work perfectly!

    So the short summary of all this is to make sure all the contacts, and there are about 48 of them, are really clean before you do anything else more major.
