I have read every thread I can find, some say you have to take the lower valance off, others say you don't.

I have looked at my assembly manual, Tav 20 and Tav 44, and I simply don't see any lower radiator to frame bolts. There is great detail about the upper mounting bolts, but I only see where the AC condenser is bolted to some brackets on the bottom of the radiator, no indication of bolts to frame at all down low, it looks like the radiator simply sits in some rubber isolator cups at the bottom.

Since I plan on removing the radiator and AC condenser as a unit, shouldn't the assembly just remove with the two top bolts and disconnecting the AC lines and radiator hoses?

Or is the assembly manual incorrect?

    Thanks,
    Doug

If you are removing both AC and Rad then it comes straight out after removing the top bolts and ac/water lines. You don't even need to remove the hood. I would suggest that you have help lifting it out and reinstalling it but it only takes 10 min. to do it once all fluides are out.

    Thanks!

It went exactly as you stated. Two person job to lift out, I think I spent more time cutting the lower connector hose in half than on the rest of the job. Rad is at the radiator place now for descaling and repaint.

After reading the horror stories about removing lower valances, grills, etc, to get the rad out while leaving the condenser in place, i think i would rather have the refrigerant system vacuumed and recharged, and remove the rad/condenser as a unit, than go thru all the grief to save a little freon. I suppose to comply with the law, you may need to have the AC system evacuated at an AC place rather than venting to atmosphere.
