Unfortunately, I had to laugh about his lines regarding 'you can't drive because you get pulled over, can't park it because people spit on it, and if you leave it home the battery goes flat...it's USELESS'.

I guess that's why it is truly an enthusiast's car...it serves no practical purpose, for the most part. Oddly enough, I've never come close to being pulled over in mine.

Clarkson, while a talented entertainer and wag, thrives on 'over the top' vehicles that 'give good video' and has no understanding of subtlety. That said, he is quite entertaining to watch.
To use another metaphor, he would pan Audrey Hepburn while extolling the virtues of Pam Anderson.
Clarkson: the English Automotive Rush Limbaugh.

So, you're saying he's an outspoken blowhard who is given more to making sensationalistic over-statement than objective criticism? Who'd a thunk it?

Great clip. I love how he resolves to order a green one and 'r-r-red' comes out when he speaks.

He was being (or trying to be) cute. He didn't mean it was literally useless. I have seen a fair bit of automotive vandalism in the UK over jealousy and comparing getting pulled over in the U.S. to the U.K. is apples and oranges.... different countries/police etc. etc.

I thought it was funny because it rang true in alot of ways. The parking lot vandalism is what makes it very impractical for the most part. If you do choose to park, you spend your entire time worrying about what someone might do to it.

Drive down the street in a flash car in the UK and get called a w*nker (cute english saying) do the same in the US and you get stuff like 'nice car', 'well done'
OK there are exceptions but generally.....

Now drive your flash car in France and you get mugged.....for a look under the bonnet (hood) or 'how fast does it go' etc. I remember driving thru a French village and a guy stood in the middle of the road and wouldn't move until we told him about the TVR we were driving. I think its great how they appreciate nice cars.
