You can drap all the diamonds in the world over her, Cram all the HP in the world in under the hood, and in the end, You cannot buy "Class." "Class" is "a presense" and a "way of treating people." If for some reason you are worried about 1st impressions with very judgemental people, I'd go with an upscale MB or BMW. Would not even think, "Sports car."
Well, between a Ferrari and a ricer, .... Actually, I'm surprised how classy an old Alfa Spider looks ... even with the top up. ... (except for the rust and rotted vinyl upholstery ). If "image" is that significant, you can always pick up an old Silver Spur for cheap. Yes, it's an old maintenance nightmare, but it's still a Roller.
Are you looking to project Class or Wealth? Wealth can be displayed in any number of ways. Class is about how you act and carry yourself. That having been said if you show up in a rusty beater, your class may come into question.
For that type of event I leave the Ferraris in the garage and take the Mercedes S65. I don't let valets park my Ferrari neither should you !
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Porsche Panamera. It will be unique until they really get out there. Also may have the right vibe in the right color for an evening event. Sorry, it did say exotics, I'm out of line.
This is correct. No matter what should be the case, the fact is that if you pull up in a car, it is part of the impression you make. An accountant who drives up in a Countach isn't going to be asked about 1040s that evening. A new Porsche 911 is the navy blazer of sports cars and exudes a restrained but virile type of class. But the Cayenne and now the Panamera scream "Look at me I bought a badge" more than anything this side of the Merc M Class. -- FChat CarStyleGuy
If I want a sexy Italian goddess with some fire in her, I drive a Ferrari. If I want to be flashy and worry about not standing out enough in my Ferrari, I drive a Lambo. If I want to look classy, sophisticated and polished, I drive a Bentley. If I want to look sophisticated, confident, understated, and hip, I drive an Aston Martin. If I don't want to stand out at all, but want to hang with those that do, I drive a Porsche 911 Turbo. If I take steroids and beat people up and want to hang with the above, I drive a GTR. If I like to beat up people who take steroids, I dive a ZR1. If I am a pencil neck with no social skills, class, sophistication, or polish and wear a pocket protector with high waters, I drive a Veyron and beat everybody above while looking good doing it.
Great list above! My vote is for the Maserati Granturismo, it is a larger, more comfortable car. I am 6'3" and the car is tailor made to fit me as I am. The Aston Martin DB was very tight, little head room, but James Bond looks very cool in one. If you're a taller guy or you want more room for comfort, the Granturismo is perfect.
Well, my wife happens to be a sexy Italian goddess with some fire in her. Actually, more sexy and more fire than de Ferrari.
Interesting points on both sides of the conversation here, but I have to agree with those that feel they don't care about what they show up in. Whether it is a ferrari, Lambo, Bentley, Rolls, Honda, Toyota, Nissan... one shouldn't be judge on what they drive. We as humans do it naturally and I myself can admit I've been guilty of this many times. If you are worried about what people thinks of you, you've got bigger issues than worrying about what you drive and how that projects your image to others. I've been to many classy events and people don't judge you on what you drive as being classy, it's how you present yourself and that presence is CLASS to me. A gentlemen walking out of his S65 with an ill fitted suit/tux and improperly done tie/bow has no class to me vs. a gentlemen pulling up in a red 360 Ferrari with a proper tailor made suit and everything looks clean and tight is class. Class does not mean wealth as other have said, and it should never be about wealth. Different people, different opinions, that's all.
"Ive never seen any car as projecting class. Class is something someone has or doesnt." Yes the car, the house, the bling, the clothes mean nothing, its the person.
Amen. In the Ian Fleming novels, 007 drove a 4.25 liter blower Bentley in the first few novels...in the early 1950's. Class can't be purchased, though. It's like the definition of pornography...I know it when I see it.
! Like watches and pens and somtimes clothes, you can tell a lot about a person by seeing how he rolls..... You can't judge one ("good" or "bad" person) in terms of personality, but you can take a few pointers on what he's like... Like if he's wearing the cheapest Rolex (most likely a status wh***), or is driving a Volvo stationwagon (most likely settled with family)...
