    The seventies and eighties exist on VHS and/or DVD. In the eighties they started to make a dedicated tape for each season, but even the footage of the previous decade exists.

    For starters check out ebay and: http://www.motorsportcollector.com/DVD70sF1.html

    It gets really difficult if you're looking for stuff from the fifties and sixties because those races weren't as televised. Those years exist more in bits and pieces.

    The have the season-in-review videos, and if you want more look into "Lap of the Gods" on DVD. I got it a couple months ago and it has a lot of nice extras on it with behind the scenes stuff. You'll definitely never get bored of it.

    Some of these video's would be eye openers to the newer F1 fans. They could see the classic tracks before they were mutilated like hockenheim and the mistral straight.

    Also close, fast competition like mansell and piquet, as teammates, passing each other at sliverstone;

    A classic course with a great story, nigel mansell's first win with his old man watching;

    I have the complete collection of Racing years on DVD from 1970 to 2004.... the only year I dont have ( yet ) is 1980... most of the DVD's have a complete recap of each race, but there are some (early 70's ) where the coverage was spotty.... but over all a very good investment if you really love Formula One... especially back when it seperated the men from the boys!

    Very true.

    And 1,000+ hp pencil rockets that were driven by real men.

    It is funny to see in the other thread how people "discover" the famous Arnoux/Villeneuve battle. Well there was F1 before the nineties and it was glorious.

    It is great and you see drivers you read about in Forza's Home Town Rivalry
    series. I have Vhs and Beta tapes from the mid 80's. I have a request from an F-chatter that I have not been able to meet. He wants Senna's win at Monoco in the rain. It must be on Beta and my Beta is not working at the moment. I was able to provide Senna's interview when he was with Prost
    at Mclaren.

    I agree... 1000 HP and very large Attachments...the cars then were really something brutal.... not like today's with all the G loading, but really you had to controll them... not much was auto... computer controlled.... not that today's drivers are not great ... they are, but they are not in the same mold!

    and back in the day of Fangio and Hawthorne.... you were really crazy to drive at all, let alone wearing a tie!
