    Dear Comrades,

My F-40 is undergoing the Ferrari Classiche Survey/Certification tomorrow (Friday 25th May) and am interested to learn whether anyone in The United States Of America has had this survey performed on their motor car?

    With kind regards,

    512 Tea Are

For certification, don't cars have to be 20 yrs old at least ? That would put most US F40's eligible at 2010 at the earliest...

I may be wrong, but I believe that to be the case....

Not true that the car must be 20 years old. Just completed process on my F-40 but have not seen the book yet.

The 20 year old rule is not based on the individual car but on the original model launch year. As the F40 was launched in 1987 the model is now 20 years old. Therefore all F40s qualify as Classiches and are eligible for certification.

    Dear Comrade Boxer 365,

You are perfectly correct - mine's being surveyed today and a friend's is to be surveyed next week. My car is of 1992 vintage and is therefore but fifteen years old.

    With kind regards,

    512 Tea Are

How long did it take to complete the process? I submitted two cars late last year and have heard nothing yet.

It can be done at the Ferrari dealership via photography, is my understanding.

Good luck , Mr. TeaAre.....welcome back from your walkabout!

Mine is also a 92. I am thinking about having it done next spring but have not decided yet. I have a sports exhaust and have been told that to be certified, it will need to be replaced with the OEM. Not sure it is worth the cost and hassle as all I would do is switch them back as soon as the certification was completed.

    Dear Boxer 365,

I do not believe that the Tubi exhaust system would cause your motor car to fail the survey and thus ultimately the Classiche Certification. It would be best, perhaps, if you spoke to whomsover would be performing the certification. For myself, I believe that it would be merely noted within the certification documentation.

    Good Evening Big Tex,

Yes I have returned after the ferrarichat record for bans - the exciting culmination of which was the ultimate accolade of a 'Lifetime Ban.'

However, the Goderators, and whom I met at the doors of Hell itself were cast into the inferno by Vulcan God Of Fire. I dived in to save them from the funeral pyre but in being caught within the forge of demons, Vulcan gathered up the zephyrs of the Universe and thus I was propelled upward, and spiralling on a plume of flame, and phoenix-like, I have risen again and wafted to the doors of our English colony of America for solace from my countrymen who have so thorughly misunderstood me.

And here I am to commence a new life set far away from malevolence and persecution - just as did my forebears when they set sail from Plymouth in the Illustrious Mayflower in those halcyon days now so long since passed.

    With kind regards,

    512 Tea Are

    ROTFLMAO!

I knew something of that sort had occured........

That sounds similar to the plotline of the latest Pirates of the Carribean movie!

    Dear Comrade Albert M8,

I haven't given the badge/plaque a thought. Where do you think is the best place - presumable in the cockpit somewhere d'you think?

It returns on Wednesday which will definitely be a 'red letter' day.

Wow that story makes the '7 circles of Hell' sound like a walk in the park on a rainy day! Breath deep the gathering gloom as the economy makes another run for the toilet. That is the only thing that will spike the 'Ferrari fever' and quell the hoards screaming for a spot on 'the list' here.
An F40 is certainly a nice place, to ride out the storm of course...

Mine was done yesterday too :)

I'm being told that the information collected needs to be sent back to Italy for checks so i think i'm safe to say no reply will be received for at least a month or so, certification pack to follow after that.

Was sent this form re the badge. However no one can tell me the dims on the plate. Was thinking either within the engine bay or in the cockpit somewhere?

    Wheres everyone else put theres?

    Dear Comrade Albert M8,

We are truly kindred spirits - both having the Classiche Certiification performed on the same day! As for the placement of the plaque and the position where the others have put it. Well, I think we're the 'Classiche Certification F-40 Twins' and the only ones to have had it performed thus far. We're sort of F-40 guines pigs! We've probably started a trend. I shall speak to Ferrari and enquire if we may become their agents. For they need someone out in the community to do the selling. And the price they charge should certainly leave sufficient for you and I to create a tidy second income - and come Wednesday when the transporter returns the behemoth and after settling up for the fuel tanks and brake discs plus god knows what else I may well need a dual income; maybe a triple even!

    With kind regards,

    Road Burner
