What does Classiche actually represent?

Is it a way to confirm whatever is on the car at the moment that it gets certified is exactly what was on the car when it left the factory?

Is it a way to confirm that the car at the moment is like a car that left the factory at the original time, i.e. with a correctly sized engine, etc.?

If there is any mismatch between numbers (car serial, engine, gearbox) is that clearly stated on the certificate?

What other than the engine, gearbox and car serial get inspected?

The short version is it is an inspection to determine if the car still meets factory specifications.

It is a very contentious topic. I would suggest talking to a facility that provides the service, get their view then do a search here to see the opposing points of view.

It is not a service that has importance or value to everyone but that is not to say it has no importance or value to anyone.

Will do, but the question is around the matching numbers on serial/engine/gearbox/etc. -- does it confirm original match or does it say only that the engine in the car conforms with original specifications (but it can be a non-matching number)?

In other words -- if I was offered a Classiche certified car is any other due diligence needed to be done to confirm matching numbers?

Ours matched so it was a non issue. I believe, and many will correct me if I am wrong but I believe if they are the correct type component but different number it is noted in the book. One of the contentious aspects is the Classiche department will supply, for a princely sum, a restamped component with the correct number. It is considered OK if done by and genuflected over by them but not OK if done elsewhere.
My genuflection is not Ferrari approved.

Again, all questions best directed towards them.
