Classiche- years on

It's like paying a tax just for the privilege of ownership. Maybe they are reconsidering the plan for the annuals?

 

The check up stamp makes sense in some aspects.

Every Ferrari left the factory 100% certified by default. As time passes, things change with the car as it is repaired and as owners modify them to suit their taste.

Same with the cert. They are "new" again when you get the book but as time passes and the car has repairs and is sold to different owners with different tastes....

 

Any idea what a cert costs these days for a 308? Also any comments on the perceived value would be interesting to read.

There is really no significant value added to a 308 with a cert. The values are not high enough to squeeze in more with a red book added.
If you have a 308 that qualifies, it is pretty much maxed out on value already. It may add a bit but once you subtract the cost to get it, there will not be tens of thousands left over.

Unfortunately for us that market remains with the Enzo era cars

Get one if you want it but it isn't a path to riches when flipping a 308

 

what I always write is this: there is no necessity of a Classiche First Certificate.
But...

1) it's a very nice thing to have, to look at when your are in your living room and to show your friends when they visit you.
2) the Classiche fee cost is always increasing (here in Italy now it costs more or less 3500 Euro 22% VAT included for a 308 GTB-GTS), so better doing it now, if you want to have it
3) bad or modded cars cannot achieve the Classiche
4) the car value increases no less than the Classiche cost
5) you don't have to waste too much time to tell your car originality when you want to sell it.

Personally, I would only pay €3500 more for a 308 with a Classiche if I was buying a car I hadn't seen-- but I would still rather fly over and have a look/drive at which point the certificate becomes redundant (to me.)

An opportunity is to have the car checked again after a respray or an engine restore or before selling the car. I will do the recall just in those eventuality
