Anybody attending this year? I have planned on going to the show in previous years, but this year I will finally make it. Even though it's a new location, does anybody have any tips or suggestions? My main interest is vintage Ferraris and Mercedes - is anybody aware of any important cars that will be shown?

    Thanks

    Peter

Very nice low key event! The show is hosted by one of the local (Richmond area) British car clubs. However, all European Marques are invited.. there is usually a number of vintage Ferrari and Mercedes present. Important cars? Who knows what may show-up. It appears that Foreign Cars Italia out of NC supports this event heavily with the number of cars they bring.. late model and vintage.

Porsche is the featured marque this year.

What is the date for this event? Is there a website?

I went a few years ago and loved the quality of cars that were there.

I went to this show the last two years and highly recommend it. Lots of nice cars, all euro makes. If you google "classics on the james" (former name) you can see pics from years past.

I hope to go. The MAR F-Club has it listed on their website in the event section and there is a dinner Saturday night for the F-Club folks. There is also a deal at a downtown Richmond hotel for those that would overnight, although the deadline may have passed.

Book the hotel fast if you want the discounted rates. I booked mine on Tuesday and they were already sold out of the good rate rooms. A quick email to the event coordinator and he got some more rooms blocked off for the special price...

Hey Robbie, I'll be there. I'll be sure to say "Hi". Looking forward to seeing the new location.

To the original OP, I doubt you will see very many "Vintage" Ferrari's there. But I guess that all depends on your definition of "Vintage". To me, "Vintage Ferrari's" are those built up to the late 60's. "Classic's" for me start in the 70's.

So if we use that as starting point, there have been some "Vintage" Ferrari's present but usually 1-2 per year. I recall a 250 Boano, a 250 GT/L Lusso, a 365 GT and 365 GTC. But they were all there different years. Typically you will see a lot of Classic Ferrari's (308, 328, 348, 355 and 360's) There has been a Boxer or two and 400i GT. And of course you'll have some current production models.

Perhaps this year there will be more Vintage cars (but just don't get your hopes up for something like Cavallino or the FCA National Meet). Every year is different. One year we had the "Supercars" there (288 GTO, F40, F50 & Enzo) another we had some local Challenge cars there.

To me, it's definitely a "must attend" annual event! For one, it's a GREAT social event. I get to see friends that I haven't seen in a while and make new ones. And Secondly...there are plenty of other Marques there to explore! :)

Indeed a Triumph Italia - owner is a very nice and knowledgable guy from Richmond. One of a little over 300 built between 1959 and 1962. Triumph sent stock TR3 chassis/drivetrains to Vignale for the coachwork; Michelotti did the design while at Vignale.

they look like miniature 250 GT Ellenas. the maser 3500 is a good comparison as well; probably better since the Maser was also by Michellotti while at Vignale.

There you go again, bringing facts and historical insight to the subject at hand!

Its amazing to think of the difference in appearance between this and the TR3. So elegant vs so old.

    Thanks for the info.

I was thinking it looks a lot like the Sebring too, which I really like in profile.
