Hi all, I've had my trusty lil Sony Vaio VGN- S26C laptop since january, and lately the cooling fan is running a lot more often than it used to. Perhaps I need some software clean up to lighten up the load on the CPU, but I suspect the cooling fan is full of dust. What do you pros suggest? Shall I bring it to some random computer repair shop and have them clean it up? Blow some compressed air into it (considering I'll do this the wrong way, ie blow in the exit)? Open it up myself?
COOLING VENTS: * Use a can of compressed air to clean the cooling vents. * Be careful with the compressed air that you don't spray too hard and get liquid on the fan blades. * Use cotton swabs to hold fans in place while you clean them. * Spraying directly on the fan and making them spin could cause them to over spin. That should do the trick Any other cleaning needed?
heh, kind of off topic, but that reminds me. I was using a can of compressed air to clean my keyboard, and I was holding it an angle, and sprayed the liquid on my arm. Bad mistake! the area I sprayed is kind of frost bitten, but still has feeling in it thankfully. And there's still a mark on my hand, I hope it fades away with time.
I've mildly frost-bitten my whole hands a couple years back, so I'll survive if I get some liquid (the can one, not John Lamour's!) on my hands. I'll get working on that tomorrow afternoon ... will let you know how that goes. Thanks for the input
