"Note, I applied a high heat clear from Eastwood and it held up in the hottest of conditions. All it took to clean up the engine after a run in the rain was a light coat of Simple Green to cut the grime and a thorough misting of hot water. The most crucial step was to "blow-dry" after wards with compressed air. If you don't have the compressed air use an electric leaf blower. (Works great for cheese graters too!) "

Can you use the leaf blower to apply the Eastwood clear coat? :) (sorry) :)

Do you drive this thing? I stress over my resto's getting dirty, and they're nowhere near that shiny.

The Eastwood comes in an aerosol can.
Before I applied the Eastwood it I "buffed" the aluminum with a rotary wheel (non-metallic) and a drill motor. The rotary wheels I found at the local hardware comes in different coarseness and is used for paint removal from WOOD so you can bet it will not hurt the aluminum. It takes off any left over corrosion and staining.

I drove the 308 year round in the Pacific Northwest and the engine bay (and chassis) got filthy with the normal "clean" road dirt. A light misting with Simple Green, a 4" nylon paint brush with a thorough mist of hot water got rid of it. Blow dry after.

As Brian Crall mentioned, don't drive the water into the lower cam bearings.

I had this 308 for 5 years and sold it a year ago last April. The engine STILL looks like it does in the pictures with just a little less luster..

Not bad for 7 years of year round driving.

There is a complete writeup somewhere in Fchat from years ago. I used rubber stopper plugs for the spark plug holes too.

Just beautiful! Motor mounts, frame rails etc. Looks great!

Thanks for posting. Eastwood should use this photo in their ads.
