What is the best cleaning solution to clean and detail the engine compartment on my 360? Is it best to use just mild soap & water? I'm worried about the sensors, wiring, paint, etc. Any input from the "detailers" is appreciated.

I use tire shine for the engine compartment. Also I wipe down the heads with a damp cloth. The tire shine has silicone works great on the black air boxs and grabs dust everywere...BEN

Would that be the foam stuff or the clear liquid type tire shine? Also, I'm assuming if I clean initially with car wash type soap and use a light water spray back there to rinse, I should be ok. I don't want to wet down any ignition components or relays that might short out once I re hit the ignition.

I simply use a damp micro-fiber towel, very simple.

    Use Simple Green

Spray on, light wiping with a cloth, wash off. Leave engine hood open to dry out. To speed things up and use an air compressor to push the water down.

agree on the silicon based products to get the Black scuppers and air boxes clean and with a deep shine.

I agree with Simple Green... but I don't even spray it on. I don't want it getting anywhere it's not supposed to be.
I make a solution of Simple Green and water and using rags, wipe down as much of the engine compartment as I can reach.
If you keep up with it... wipe things down after each wash etc., it shouldn't be too big a job to keep clean.

i have detailed many engine bays on 360's and 430's, i only do it by hand with all purpose cleaner and micro fibre towels as well as several types of brushes. i stay away from silicon based dressing because of fire hazard, instead i use a dressing specifically made for engine compartments which are also less oily and give a much cleaner looking finish. also, use mechanic type gloves because there are many places in there to cut your fingers.
