I realize I didn't buy any polishing pad cleaner when I bought everything else and so I'm wondering what else I could use to clean the pads when I'm done. Is it just a mild detergent or is it something special to break down the polishing solution? I'm using Pinnacle XMT products.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Never used XMT, but just run the pads under the faucet, using your thumbs to break up the polish. If you do it as soon as you're done, it should wash right out. Don't let the polish dry on the pads.

I use a couple drops of dish soap. Wash and rinse really well in warm water. They come out like new.

I used both suggestions. For the XMT level 1 swirl remover water did the trick. For the polish it took a little disk soap to cut through the wax. Thanks for your help.

Personally, I use Meguiars Super Degreaser at a low dilution (15:1). I don't always get around to cleaning them right away, and even when they sit for weeks (or months) I've never had a problem getting them completely clean again.
