Clear and slippery fluid leaking...

    ...from the engine, passenger side, after sitting for the winter then starting the engine. When touched, the fluid looks like water but feels like oil. I had thought perhaps brake fluid, but there's a good too many years on what's there, about 6,000 miles since it was last changed.

    Any ideas what and why?

    1996 F355 Spyder with manual gearbox.

    Scoop up enough and see if it is soluble in water if so then it's brake fluid if not probably shock absorber fluid.

    Did you try to trace where its comming from?

    It will lead you back to the leak.

    did you find it before or after starting the engine? If after start, could be just water/condensation from a spot where there is an exhaust leak.
