Just a curiousity question here. Of those FChatters who actually own an FCar, do you have a clear bra on your car or would you consider getting one on the car?

I ask because alot of times owners say they re-spray the noses of the cars due to rock chips. however, if a clear bra would solve it, why not?

Would it actually damage the value of the car if the clear bra was used?

Clear bras are the only way to go. Period.

Driving a Ferrari without a clear bra is like being in a brothel without a condom.

Who cares about what it does to the car's value?

Would not a nicked-up hood and front apron devalue the car faster?

I am having a few spots touched up next week by a pro, and then my 360 goes to Sam at Premier to have the whole front done with the clear bra.

It's a no brainer as long as it can be removed w/o damage if needed!

Now if the work were done while you were standing, would the condom be necessary?

On that same line, when I have Sam do my car, should I worry about driving a vehicle with an association such as you suggested?

Two reasons not to get the clear bra.
One is it is expensive to buy.
The other is the paint looks better (very slightly) without it.
If you either plan on driving very little, or don't mind repainting the clear bra is not really necessary.

Have yet to see a clear bra that looks good. I had my bumper repainted for $400... I can repaint it 4 or 5 times for what it would cost to do the full bumper/hood/fenders plastic.

Interesting. I just had a complete hood, bumber wheel well rim etc job done on my 430 spider for $900. Beautifyl job. 99% invisible. Also well worth it on my 360 spider after 32000 miles.

Mine happened to come with one when I bought it. It is hard to see unless you look very closely so it doesn't bother me any. As fragile as Fpaint (older cars) is a bra seems like a pretty good idea.

They don't protect all areas of the front you still have gaps, you are still going to get chips in other spots of the car no matter what anyway.

The edge of the clear bra collects grime, wax, and dirt and some will begin to peel up and bubble over time, you can see the bra easily as well.

Some guys are very expensive for the clear bra at over $600, not worth it for that much IMO.

... and once you get a chip that the film didn't prevent, you have the worst of both worlds.

I have yet to see a car with the clear film where it wasn't pretty obvious.

I would love to see some kind of nanotech clearcoat that would solve the problem properly, once and for all. In the meantime, I had my front bumper disassembled/resprayed earlier this year, not a big deal.

You can still get a chip and not know it until you take the clearbra off and the paint chip comes off with the bra as well, its hard to say how effective it really is i had it on my 328 I puchased a kit and did it myself so it was relatively cheap under $200 for it, its better than nothing and I would consider putting it on again on a Ferrari that gets driven often.

I had to remove a clear bra once, and a lot of paint chips came off with it. I think most of the chips still happen, but stay in place until the bra is removed.

I guess I should say, "most of the bigger chips still happen," not tiny sand marks, etc.

The net result is you need to respray anyway.

The only real solution is to drive in reverse.

I was in FofCF the other day as they were applying a clear bra. It is a pretty slick process. They were doing it out on the showroom floor.

And yes, if you look closely you can see a seam when it's done, but you really have to look for it.

I have seen some of Premier's work up close at our weekly gathering - it's good. ...and that's the understatement of the century. There is the "StarShield" film that seems to be on all new Lotus Elises, and I can spot it from a mile away - not the case with Premier's work. They've done a complete wrap of an Enzo (every panel), and if nobody told you that it was done, you'd literally never know....

Thats too funny, a bunch of Ferraris drive like a bat-out-of-hell backwards.

Imagine the look on the cops face after he pulls you over when you tell them you're driving backwards to avoid rock chips.

    Too funny.....

ok, i HAVE to ask a stupid question :

how the hell do you wax the car and "feed" the paint if it has this bra-plastic stuff all over it? quality waxes feed the paint , much like moisturiser feeds our skin. without any wax, the paint will surely weather and fade unevenly ?

I totally agree. I'd recommend the clear bra only if the company can do it as well and make it as invisible as Premier does.

Just had my 430 clear bra'd by Premier,... http://70.85.40.84/~ferrari/forum/showthread.php?t=116433&highlight=clear+bra
I wouldn't have it any other way. Check out what a true invisible bra should look like. www.premiermobilegroup.com
