I purchased my 360 and it arrived on Saturday. The front bumper has the Clear Bra but I am not sure if I should have the headlights, hood, and fenders covered also. I will not drive the car in bad weather. It will probably get parked sometime in October and come back out sometime April/May. Has anyone done this or should I leave it alone? The car does not have a chip on it, she still looks brand new..

    Thanks
    Robert

You will really wish you had it when you get your first chip. I don't even think it is debatable.

I wouldn't bother with the headlights. It is considered glass and most people have zero deductible on glass. I had StonGard on my headlights of an S2000 I owned and within 2 months, the lights were ruined.

I say, go naked.. I had a bra on my black porsche and it did not look very good. I understand black is one of the worse colors for bra.

Do it. Run, don't walk. Oh and you referred in your OP to "parking" your car. Pretty soon you'll come to realize that these cars aren't parked. They're waiting. :) Have fun.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!! Get the clear bra!!!!!

Mine held up well at the track, not one chip or penetration to the clear bra!!!!! Like others have said, when you get that first chip you will freak, get the clear bra!!! Especially since yours is going to be a garage queen.

A must. You will regret not installing one once you have your first chip.
I have covered my full hood, 1/3 of fenders, front bumper, head lights, A-pillars and mirrors plus side skirts.

There is so much sand and dirt on the roads that doing exposed areas is a good idea IMVHO. My recommendation, do it.

I assume we are talking 3M here.

May I ask why if it is only red or black you will do the entire car?

Do it....he best investment for these cars. I 'm actually about to redo the entire bra b/c it has so many nicks/scraps on it after 4K miles...just peel off and start with a fresh car.

is it a do-it-yourself job, or something you need a specialist?

    IMO -

The film helps - but will not prevent chips. I have 3 cars w/ film (from several well known installers in my area) and there is at least 1 chip that has penetrated the film on each car. I would likely have *more* chips without the film - but I wanted to level set expectations.

    Good Luck!

Not understanding your rational with regard to the deductable. Bottom line....The headlight/buckets on the 360 are studid expensive so why not protect them like the rest of the exposed areas of the car. A proper protection film will not damage the lights. I've covered two 360's and two CS's with absolutely no issues.

Not a f-car owner, but I re-did one on my 911 last summer after putting on a euro front nose and I will underscore what amarzano said - determined rocks/debris will find it's way through the film My new nose and clear bra lasted a year, but this spring got some nasty marks through the clear bra and maybe the paint - pissed me off, but that is the price of usage.

Lesson learned is: clear bras are probably good (I haven't determine exactly what they prevent), but you can/will get road rash despite them.

do it. the installer I use is very highly regarded and he told me they have stopped doing the headlights as they were finding some complications with it (sorry dont remember) but if you installer is willing to do the lights- whats the worst case scenario? you dont like it and you take it off. btw- I have several chips on the lower part of my F430s front bumper and I imagine if I did not have the protectant that the number would be higher by a factor of at least 10. Its worth it.

    best regards,
    Jerry

I have the 3M clear bra on my 360. It was there when I purchased the car. At first I didn't care much for it and thought about removing it, but now I love it. Mine covers the front bumper, lower part of the hood, head lights, side mirrors, along the rockers/lower vents.

Some months ago, a truck (driven by a hippie from Santa Cruz that wasn't paying attention) cut over into my lane and nearly ran me off the road. As it was, he pushed me off the road a few feet as I corrected to keep him from sideswiping me - it was right at the start of a construction area where the road narrowed too. The result was I almost hit the concrete; I got so close that the driver's side mirror wacked one of those tall orange pylons going about 80 MPH. I thought at first that it had ripped the mirror clean off, but actually it had just folded it back.

Anyway, I stopped the car a few miles down the road to check for damage. The pylon had hit the mirror right where the 3M bra was luckily. It left a few scratches in the film (which I was able to easily buff out with a rag). I am sure if the clear bra had not been there that it would have taken the paint off, or at least done a number on it.

My car is titanium and you can barely see it unless you are right on top of the car and looking at it. I also apply that 303 UV spray once in a while.

    Ray
