At the suggestion of BigTex, I started looking into protective film for the turn signal lenses and parking lights. I found that protective film kits are available for whole cars. News to me! Has anyone had experience with this product? While whole kits are not available for the Mondial, or any "older" cars, I was told that a pattern could be made if they had a volunteer car to use, and if enough people were interested. Right now I think I will get enough bulk material to cover the light lenses and see how that goes.

There are several manufacturers of this product out. 3M, Roadblock etc. Several of my customers corvettes and one Audi R8 have it installed and the only down side are the edges. Over time, constant cleaning can curl an edge or in the case of light colored cars it looks yellowish over time. Consult the installer for the warranty coverage.
I personally only have the exterior (non hidden) lamps on the F cars done and same on my C6 vette with exposed headlamps and fog lamps. I use a car mask for long drives also.
    Hope this helps...

We got a pre-cut kit for my Aprilia RSV-R. A little tricky learning to apply it but by the last piece I was doing pretty well. A month later I took a rock strike on the headlight cover and it only tore up the film. $8 got me a replacement pre-cut film piece. The headlight cover would have cost me $263.

We also use it on the entire nose of the race car... really helps with rock chips and rubber streaks. It lets you get really aggressive cleaning the rubber clag from the racetrack off the nose without damaging the paint!

The front lip on the 308 had a lot of stone chips before we had it painted, so I'm probably going to do that area as I put the car back together.

Have you tried lamin-X, they'll sell you a roll of it (15 ft) for a little over $100. You can then cut to shape yourself. I have the 40mil ones on my 328 fogs and the turn signals. The only problem with the plastic lenses is that they don't look good upclose since the raised letters bubble over time.

The company is called Clearmask. You can get smaller rolls for less than $50. The link I posted shows the installation for lights.
