My brake pads were worn out so a message came on the screen something like "brake pads are worn bring the car to a dealership". The the red "brake" light came on.
I have replaced my brake pads but every time I start the car, it's the same first the message on the screen then the red "brake" on the dash; they won't go away.
Anyone has successfully clear out that message? How?
I was thinking maybe an OBD II code reader might do the trick but I don't think this is a standard code so it might not work; anyone knows if it will work?

    Thanks,

    Laurent

u will most likely need a scanner with 458 software to clear it

Any OBD 2 reader will most likely erase the brake code but it will come back on the next startup
if the OBC still reads a fault.

Try to buy a portable OBD 2 reader (available for about $30 USD at any Auto Zone
shop or the like), plug it into the OBD port under the steering wheel and try canceling
the code. If it comes back on the next startup bring I would bring it to the dealer.

did you swap pads yourself? did you correctly connect the pad wear connection?

as mentioned, you might be able to clear the code with a generic OBD scan tool, but if the car senses pad wear (i.e. pads not connected) it will alarm again.

If the code is permanent (i.e. comes back after clearing) then it's a 30 second plug-and-play at dealer. We've had issues with the wear indicator connection before that caused (false) alarms.
