I have an 03 360 Coupe and occasionally while the car is running, I hear a electronic clicking noise coming from the area behind the passenger airbag. It sounds similar to a higher pitched click that is produced by the turn signal. It clicks at a random pace and sometimes just goes away. Other times, I turn off the engine and the next time I start it up, the click is gone. I may not hear for days, but then it resurfaces for no particular reason.

I have tried running the car with the AC system off, same thing for the radio, but no luck. It doesn't sound like it is a short in a speaker wire, but I am having the car checked by a stereo shop this week while installing a new sound unit.

Anybody have any ideas? Do you think anything harmful is happening?

Speaking of the turn signal, has anyone tried to change the sound of the turn signal indicator? That ngalk, ngalk, ngalk sound is very un-Italian.

I just had a similar issue. Turned out to be a bad turn signal relay. Pitch was different because it was on its last legs. While the thought of having it die and get rid of the OEM ngalk was attractive, I was worried that then my turn signal wouldn't work at all. All fixed now.

FerrariLou, did it happen even when you did not signal to turn? Did the dealer fix it, or did you do it yourself? If so, where did you get the part?

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, it made the noise even when the turn signal was off. Typically during the
first 20mins of driving, but was intermittent. In fact, it clicked more
often without the turn turn signal being on - very annoying.
While I had my suspicions, the
dealer made the final diagnosis and changed out the part.
From the invoice, it appears it was $127 in labor, though I don't
see the charge for the part.

FerrariLou, it appears you have solved the problem for me - this FChat stuff is great.

I'll get into the fuse/relay panel in the front trunk tomorrow and see if I can isolate the clicking noise to the turn signal relay. If that is the culprit, Ricambi has the part for $170.00 #164369.

    Thanks for your help.

Don't forget to also check the other relay, #171798
I think this second one is really the one at fault.

Guys, thank you! I'm glad I found this thread. I thought i was crazy hearing things when I was driving my 06 430. I'm going to bring the car to the dealer to see if they can confirm this is the issue with my car.

I get that clicking from time to time in my 360 as well. I seem to remember that if you change the vent control from the upper/lower setting to the upper only, that it stops. I could be wrong about that. You might give it a try and see if it has any effect on things. It may be that there is also a relay in there that controls which vents open/close (but I don't know for sure).
