client just bought a 575M

My client just bought one and there are no records of any maintenance with the purchase - auction car.

Car has @4K miles on it, 2002, gated trans.

Any idea how to get records - can i go to ferrari dealer and get info?

Car has been from florida, mass to canada and back to AZ in its history - 4-5 owners.

Appreciate the insight and direction.

 

Ed - any Ferrari dealer can pull warranty claims, recalls, etc based on VIN. They can also tell you the originating dealer and based on 4K miles, that's likely to be the place that serviced the car prior.

 

If the books are with car car as it says in the auction description then there should be stamps - if it has ever been serviced - print-outs of service history may be more complex due to privacy laws

Hell of a nice car he picked up.

All your client needs to do track down the service history, do the late 575 updates, add the 19" Modular Wheels, caliper color change to Yellow, and a Schedoni luggage set and you have one special car. (As if its not special enough already!)

Somebody added the 575M script to the rear, but overall a very pretty 575M. Sold earlier at Amelia Island for $462K including fees.

Mat- The 19" wheels did not actually come out until around SN 130000, even though they were in the brochure.

Needs to be de-sticky everywhere.....not sure what the last service has been, the wheels look brand new on the car...perfect clean on the insides....are they correct for the car?

I purchased my 575 about 11 years ago. The original previous owner was a billionaire who was not the kind of guy you can just ring up.

I contacted the original selling dealership, faxed proof I was the owner(title) and was promptly mailed a complete set of service records completely up to date. Only owners contact info redacted.

I think the whole service record thing is overrated. If you don't have records then just service it. You can usually get comfortable with mileage on late model cars comparing carfax and wear items. The rest is just mechanical. Inspect, replace, repair AND DRIVE!

 

Agree totally. I was just in a position to obtain records.

I am not sure if dealerships will do it anymore.

It used to be you could get build sheets and PIN numbers from dealer for free.

I do not believe they do that anymore, but service records are fairly easy if you just play nice and ask.

Btw do not trust Car fax. They have my car for sale about three different times as I have owned it. Not sure where they get info. Car fax has my info all wrong.

Some dealers will still provide records with the owner's name redacted - others flat our will not. Some will also provide build info. It's probably who you know

That cat was originally sold from Cauley Ferrari here in Michigan. Call Joe Abernathy he is the head of the service department and if they still have records I’m sure he would help you out.
