We took my car out for the first drive of the season last night. I had a good bit of work done to the car over the winter which inluded a belt service and valve adjustment, new Larini muffler and completely new interior. We drove about twenty miles to a relatives house, visited for about three hours and returned home.

At about the half-way point home, I got a call from where we had spent the evening with the news that there was a good-size puddle of oil where my car had been parked. A look at the guages showed nothing out of the ordinary so kept my eye on them and continued home.

I checked under the hood and found a good bit of oil in the engine compartment as well as a fresh puddle of oil under the clutch bell housing.

Today I removed the drivers side rear wheel and inner fender and started the car to find the leak. As it turns out, the upper oil cooler line had ruptured to some degree and was spewing oil at a steady rate. The lines had been rebuilt by a local shop a couple of years ago.

This could have been a disaster. No more oil line rebuilds for me (at least at that shop), tommorow I'll be putting in a call to Daniel and ordering new lines.

Are you talking about the stainless steel braided hose from the oil cooler to the Block?

The problem is that only one of the two is still available, should Daniel be able to fInd one it would probably be very expensive and Ferrari parts are also by far not as failsafe as they are expensive. I ended up having mine custom made at a hydraulic hose place, I hope they will last for a while.

Hello... Would you mind posting how much it cost you to do the services? I am just curious if my local shop will be similar..

I paid about 75 per hose and had it done by http://www.mrhose.com/

The outer diameter is slightly smaller than original but the inner diameter is the same. They are hydraulic hoses and will certainly have no problems with the oil pressure.

The one that failed was the top hose that runs to the base of the oil filter. I thought I should replace both since they were both made by the same company, but I didn't know they were hard to come by.

Would you happen to know which hose is still available?

I am not sure which one it was, but I have called around during my search for them and I believe Rutlands had one of them; btw they have a very nice website now with partscatalogue online etc.

    It cost somewhere around 300$ !! :-0

You can get original used ones from Ferrparts, Russ is the man there.
