I am looking for the closest place to test-drive a Ferrari. I am located in central Iowa, near Des Moines.

I have to be painfully honest, that I know nothing about cars but my boyfriend dreams of owning a Ferrari one day. His birthday is in April and I would love for him to get to take one for a spin.

Suggestions on places/dealers is greatly needed and appreciated!!!

Can't help you there, try posting in the midwest section you'll get more help, and damn I wish I had a girlfriend like that.

You may wind up having to rent one for the weekend... $$$$$$. As I don't know your age, but do see you're a student, you may not be able to. :(

I hope your boyfriend knows what a good girlfriend he has! :) If he does I'm sure that'll be enough of a present.

    Good luck!

Generally speaking no dealer is going to let you "Test" drive a $100K+ car just because it is his birthday. N0t gonna happen but if you google your area you might find an Exotic car rental that you can Rent a car (this is not cheep and if you are under 25 might as well go to the store and buy a 1/18 scale or some Ferrari related publication (subscription to Forza) that will continue the dream. Don't expect anyone to just jump at the chance to Test Drive tho.....

Maybe if you found a really nice salesman and had ample cleavage showing you might be able to talk him into taking your boyfriend for a ride in an Fcar.

If you were in south Alabama I would introduce ya'll to the Ferrari experience, like a Dr. friend of my father did when I was 22. (he let me drive his 512 BB and I still grin about it 20 years later)

See..thats the kind of person I need to find!! (It's even his 22 bday too!) But I appreciate everyone's input. I've learned alot just reading thru posts on this site.

I'll keep looking for a generous soul who will offer a spin around the block.

That's where the midwest section might be a help.

Give a thought to the logistics: You walk the b/f out front, he opens his eyes, sees a Ferrari ... no, you only get to drive it around the block -- disappointment. Oops.

But say the two of you pull into a parking lot -- there's a Ferrari here. The owner shows off the car, lets the guy drive it around the block ... at the end, the owner says "your g/f says happy birthday". Don't get a nosebleed up on that pedestal. ;)

Exotic car rentals will have probably heard the birthday surprise thing before, but will probably want driver's license info, proof of insurance, etc. Harder to make it a surprise, but a more comprehensive experience. (All day versus around the block.)
