    Sorry to post again, I am not a 308/328 owner yet but will be within a year or two (Not a Walter Mitty honest, just have other time-sinks to complete first). I did search on this too but drew a blank.

    Did any 308 or 328 have cloth seats or was leather mandatory? Here in Greenwich at the dealership near the train station I saw their silver 400 has cloth seats - of course my American work buddies laughed at cloth in such a car.

    For years I have hated not being able to buy a new BMW here in the US without leather (or -ette which is 99% the same). This is showing my age and nationality (UK), but in my mind sports cars should have a non-slip material where one's butt goes. These days even a base 911 and every Ferrari comes with leather seats - what gives?

    Presumably not using leather in a 308/328 would kill resale anyway so I guess this is a mute question.

    Cloth center panels were offered on the 308 QV in Europe. Not sure about U.S. cars.

    FWIW, I have new leather in my 328 and it grips nicely due to the grain. Many of these cars have had their leather re-dyed, with gradually reduces the texture.

    Also, you really don't want cloth in any kind of convertible -- it gets filthy quickly.

    true but it feels a lot better on your legs when you are wearing shorts after it has been parked in the sun with the top down...

    I put seat covers from an MGB GT in my 74 MGB for that very reason. Cloth centers.

    Series 1 GT4's came with cloth inserts standard; solid leather was an option.
