hi, newbie again, i will be posting some pix of an 88 328 i looked at on sat, MAYBE i will be in her for may!! i will post my questions and a linke to pix etc on a separate topic under the 328 section, so i would appreciate if some Ontarioans would comment in addition to the other F-chatters since only we know the Ontario quality of cars (ie not pure california rust-free, so on) will post later tonight, thanks and maybe just maybe i'll be in a 328 before may (was considering the 85 308 one of the other f-chatters is selling in teh Carolinas and another in Colorado as well) thx gord

Take your time........dont rush when getting in these cars....watch the movie the money pit with Tom Hanks and Shelly long first. Where is this 328 your looking for ? I have sene a few already, and can tell you very frankly what the issues are with some that i have seen already...there is more to these cars besides a nice wax job and redyed seats with a clean engine bay.

yep, seen the money pit when i was MUCH younger, so i know (been there done that with other cars nearly too!!)
the 88 328 is in Stoney Creek/Hamilton area (on autotrader) owned by Dominic (did not get last name) have the vin if that helps (see my post in Canada as well for pix etc. >> paint and seats are NOT my concern for sure, it is my lack of FERRARI experience (the drivetrain primarily) that makes me the "newbie" (have owne fiat spiders and yugos too so i understand italian cars and their shortcomings (yes a yugo is an italian design in fact), as well as bricklins, classic cars like 57 and 55 t-birds, 86 grand prix aerocoupe, kit cars, convertibles too numerous to list, diesels, trucks, my list is a bit TOO long, so trying to focus all the energy onto a ferrari 308/328
so all this help IS great
    thanks
    gord

1st thing you should do with the VIN is spend the $20 and go tot the ministry office and see how many owners it has on the title, and if there are any loans on the car...plus if any registerd accidents.
Start with that, and then have someone inspect it on a hoist that knows these cars

That $20 ministry document wont tell you if it's been in an accident. Only If it has been branded but won't mention regaular insurance activity. It does tell you the number of owners, leins and rough resale value figures for PST purposes.

    Do a carfax.

It will tell you if it has an insurance claim...thats what i meant.

    You are correct.

The weather for the upcoming Saturday doesn't look to good either. Who is planning on going?

EDIT: wow I checked the weather last night and it showed -2 with snow/ice pellets and just now it shows 10-14 for Friday and Saturday. I guess this weekend might be a good time to come out.

Carfax is pretty good sometimes, but can also present a report with some big holes in the vehicle history.

Once you have a short list, I would suggest that you look into CarProof www.carproof.com

Pretty impressive resource for the CDN buyer..

Great! Thanks bro. Thus far we have about 10 cars, but we need more! Common guys!

Does anyone have any suggestions of a good restaurant in Mont Tremblant that we can grab some lunch that also can accommodate the vehicles safely?

Anything at the mountain is pretty much out of question as parking is somewhat limited and definitely not secure. Chez Lorraine in the old Tremblant is a Le Circuit favorite there is some parking there. Cayenne grill across the street has lots of parking and the food is good.

St-Jovite has a few decent restaurants but again parking can be an issue

Both places are really good and have an extensive menu. Again parking can pose a problem if we eat at the mountain unless we park in the Westin Hotel's underground lot. It's 18$ for the day and would definitely be secure so that could be an option. I think the atmosphere would be better at the mountain so my vote is to park at the Westin and eat somewhere on the mountain

I'm organizing the NWR-FCA USA club event to Victoria Aug 3-5th, 2007 and have invited the Western Canada Ferrari Club which has made request to our board of directors. The board of our USA club has discussed this and would like to invite all Canadian Ferrari Club members to attend, not just FCA Club members, but you must pre-register.

The weekend was selected for its perfect tides to facilitate Ferrari loading onto ferrys; there are no negative tides all weekend and our sailing times have +3 foot Friday and +4 foot tides on Sunday.

Several activities are planned and we are receiving a $100.00 discount on our 5 star hotel accomodations. There will be 2 group dinners, including a club banquet and a drive in the countryside to a winery for lunch.

This is going to be a large event and reservations for all events must be made by the July 1st closing date.
Please consider coming as the Hotel is already half full, contact me off-list for the details.

    Kind regards,

    Scott

Note: This is a non-profit, Ferrari club event.

Thanks! Had a great time ... if anyone is looking for a great golf vacation ... and / or investment property oportunity ... I highly recommend the Radium / Invermere area ... only about 2 hrs. from Calgary ... and it's an amazing drive! Through the moutains ... lots of twisties ... can't wait till late May when I head back out there for a couple of weeks ... then on to Langara for some Salmon fishing ...
