    there are times when I am in reverse I will hear a clunking noise from the transmission before I shift into first. Also when I come to a stop/light I hear the same sound but not all the time. Anyone else experienced this? 2005 9800 miles. thanks

    Check the hydrolic pump and the mainfold

    Without hearing it in person I can't say for sure, but yes, as the F1 system downshifts coming to a stop and in some circumstances going into reverse there is a minor "clunk" sound.

    it sounds like a manual transmission, if thats the noise it is completely normal becasue F1 is really a manual.

    My '07 F1 does this sometimes as well. Most often, but not all the time, if I'm in 2nd and slow to a near stop when the car downshifts, sometimes there's a clunk.
