Just got my major done, SD2 says that my clutch is 97% worn, can this be off? Car has NEVER popped out of gear, although it does have 2 strange tendencies.

    1) Sometimes if I want to go from N to 1 or R I need to go to the opposite gear to get where I need to be. For example, Car is in N, I want to go to 1, I hit the paddle and nothing happens, but I can get it into R then into 1 no problem, and vice versa. Its been like this for 1-2 years though.
    2) Once in a blue moon when shifting at above 8k it will bobble at high rpm 2-3 times then skip to 3rd gear. I don't normally switch at that high of rpm and haven't done it in a year but it did happen a few times last summer, and only from 1-2.

Please help me out, I am brining my car to an independent next week to do the clutch as Ferrari quoted me $9900.00 + Tax.

I think that wear level is highly unlikely. I just had a car here with the same situation. It comes from a clutch being replaced without the correct computer resetting procedure and it just keeps recording wear.

A mechanic with good familiarity with a 360 can make a very good (possibly better than the computer) visual estimate of remaining clutch.

It sounds like you drove your car all these past years with wrong PIS set.

It's more than a PIS setting. It's likely the clutch thickness when new wasn't altered during instal, as Brian says, it's likely not been setup at all. It would be interesting to know what the wear index is reading...

I'll have to look at my records as I've only owned the car for 2.5 years, but I don't recall seeing any paperwork that the clutch was done. The car currently has 35,000 Kilometres, so assuming its the first clutch it would be on its way out... but I know that most people say that the car would slip out of gear etc when the clutch is really warn.

On another note, I've only ever driven a 360, and the car does seem somewhat jerky at times off the line, but I dunno if thats just me not giving it enough gas, or once again the clutch being messed up.

Rustybits - Would the wear index be on the SD2 reading somewhere as well?

Yes, the wear index would be stored in the control unit, and accessed with the SD2 in the parameters page. It is a good indication of how fast the clutch is being used up. Once they get over half worn the remainder of the material gets used up pretty quickly. Bad setup can cause all kinds of wild readings, I've seen them at 102% worn before, not coming out of gear but driving like crap!
