    Where is the biting point on your 328 clutch and ideally where should it be??

    Any help much apprecaited

    I have mine start to engage about 1/4 to a 1/3 of the floor. Unlike later cars with slave cylinders, 328 clutches use a cable that can be adjusted. If your clutch is engaging too high, it needs adjustment or the clutch itself could be about worn out.

    Sounds about right. I'll confirm this afternoon when I drive it. My clutch has about 9K miles on it.

    The free play is the only adjustment to be concerned with. Correct free play assures the release bearing is not contacting the pressure plate when fully released. Worst case scenario is the release bearing is not only in contact with the presssure plate, but is partially releasing it, causing clutch slippage and the ultimate demise of the clutch. If the free play is correct, the engagement point resolves itself.

    After my mechanic did my clutch he adjusted it so the pedal was the same height as the brake (when not engaged of course). This made the bite point rather high, but he said that it was set up that way on purpose.
