Hi, I found myself with some spare time and decided what probably many of you decide to do when you have some free time and that is to jack up the car and take a look underneath. I was trying to get a feel for where things go when I noticed a cable coming out of the body in front of the engine looking a little frayed. I believe it is the clutch cable and wanted to get input on how to change it. I've already located the part #106745 (I believe) at Dennis McCann's. Thanks Z
I did mine this Summer so I may be missing afew steps but 1. Take the circlip and pin off the pedal so cable is loose. 2. You need to take the cover off the front steering assembly under the car. 3. Near where the pedal assembly is outside the car you'll see a bolt that holds the cable on remove it. 4.You'll see on the trans where the linkage is the threaded rod where the cable is loosen it to disconnect the cable. 5 Follow the tubing where the cable is routed through you'll find 2 rubber plugs that are split on each end of the tube, remove them as it prevents the cable from pulling out as well as installing the new cable. Thats about it relatively simple but time consuming as with anything else working on a Ferrari the first time.
I am thinking of changing the cable on my 328 when I replace the clutch in the next month or two, does anyone have a source for a good price. Is there a non Ferrari equivalent part that fits ?
I ordered it from Dennis Mcann today and they had it in stock for $56. Did not actually shop around much though. I'm about ready to call the dealer and see how much they charge. Acutally just called the dealer and the cable is $345.51. WOW. Z
