They get lost by not getting put back. One of my cars had a custom one made of aluminum with holes drilled in it. Its just a flat metal plate, pretty simple to make one.

There's a rubber gasket that goes under the plate...make sure you purchase that as well. I recall it was ~ $5 or so.

Hi Steve, Great to hear that you have a GT4. I have a GT4 also and live in Surrey. It's a '74 Series 1 and I've had it for 8 years. How long have you had your car?

If you want a cover plate made I have all the facilities to do so. I have to admit that my car didn't come with a gasket below the plate and I'm not sure why it would need one - except for originality. If you want to contact me at work "[email protected]" then I'd be pleased to help you.

By the way, I see that you are a VT editor. Well I'm a Dubbing Mixer - hence the e-mail address.

    Hope to hear from you.

    Lance.

Ron Tonkin Gran Torismo in portland oregon (one of the oldest ferrari dealers in the US ) set me up with the plate and rubber gasket. 503 257 9655 You dont want to leave it off,I had oil go down the hole when I removed my oil filter. It got on the clutch and caused major problems.3 cans of brake cleaner and it appears to be ok now.Dont do what I did.

I think the Bird is right - make sure that you have a gasket on the plate, maybe lock washers on the two little bolts too. I have never relaced the filter without some oil looking for the clutch disc. Cheap Insurance.

In general covering up holes is a good idea. It would be a real b**ch tryig to look for a socket or itty bity bolt that jumped off - down which hole???

I got mine from Ricambi (plate and gasket), but I know that Dennis McCann sells them as well...
