Hi! That's the fact... clutch and pedal are working great when cold or normal driving but as soon as the car gets high temperature at high speed on highway or fast driving on a hill road the pedal lost pressure and clutch does not works... slowing down the speed it works again... new clutch kit just installed Gremlins? Clutch pump?
no clutch pump on a 3 pedal. Master cylinder above pedal leaking? Other area's prone to issues are the distribution block on outside of transaxle and the slave/throw out bearing inside transaxle. Just replaced my clutch due to slave leaking. Fluid level full in reservoir? Shares the fluid with the braking system....HTH
Hi Brett, yes, there is a clutch pump on the clutch pedal, part 180841... I checked the distributor block, no leaks... but not checked pedal leaks nor fluid level... There is nothing else that can be broken?
1. Check the level of your reservoir. 2. Bleed it of all the air.. aka bleed it again... 3. Check connections at the master. 4. Could be at the slave by the clutch.. Any fluid coming out of the perforated inspection port on the bottom of the car?
I agree. First bleed system to remove any air. If this doesn't change anything, then you probably need a new throw out bearing (leaking slave cylinder). Unfortunately this involves dropping gearbox and removing clutch. Good luck !
I had a similar intermittent problem in my 355, not heat related, but similar symptom, it was the mastercylinder/slave cylinder if I recall correctly. It did NOT require removing the clutch, and I already had the Hill Engineering throwout bearing. My mechanic knew immediately upon describing the symptom and fixed it right away.
Uffff ... a New sunday ride. .. everything works fine... even at high speed in a hill road. .. but I feel pedal and selector a bit "erratic". ..Just a little bit... but works fine... No leaks on the pedal side. No leak on the distributor block area. Brake fluid tank ok. Clutch pump seems to be ok, Just a bit o rust... some pics Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
From what I've seen it usually leaks into the passenger compartment, or the internal plunger seal doesn't do as good a job and pressure isn't maintained.. I replaced my clutch master cylinder/pump last year as a precautionary measure and I could tell a difference. I'd replace it if it were my car. Under $300 and an hour or so of work to replace. Go to harbor freight and get a set of stubby wrenches before you do the job.
Has that master cylinder/pump for $120 some dollars I recall.... I always have called it a master cylinder...not a pump but same part I guess..
