Hi everyone I am new to the boards here and am a virgin when it comes to my 348 spider. I must say I my own defense that I have been doing a lot of reading on this car as well as the overall lifestyle. So now my question, my 348 arrived with Santa behind the wheel, ( a gift from my wife). Yes she is wonderful! With the snow just about gone, I took her out the clutch grabs near the top. The service records tell me that just prior to receiving it the clutch was redone. Can anyone suggest where the peddle should be it seems high but I have only driven normal standard shift. Thanks Tom

First of all I would like to welcome you to FerrariChat, and to The 348 Brotherhood.

As for the engagement of the clutch. The 348 is not known for having the best shifting transmission. My clutch tends to grab a bit high also. I have driven other cars with "normal" clutches and have stalled them because I'm so use to my 348's clutch engaging high. There is an adjustment for the clutch peddle under the dash, but I have never fooled with it.

Wish I could have been more helpful.

Mine also is very high. It does not seem to slip at all though so my guess is its normal from what Ive read. It is my first 348 as well and Im pretty new to it also. Almost every other brand car Ive driven the clutch has been just off the floor or near middle stroke.

Is this a single plate thing (since the op has a spider, he definitely doesn't have a twin plate setup)? My earlier clutch, while heavy (delighgtfully so, IMO) seems to engage at what I consider to be a pretty normal point.

Mine's pretty 'normal' to be honest, engages about where I would expect. 1993 TS so single clutch.

The workshop manual has a section on clutch pedal adjustment on page D8, not sure if this'll help you out. Manual can be downloaded from here if you've temporarily 'misplaced' yours.
