Good day, Time has come to replace the clutch of my 365. Although I did some research prior to post a new thread, i struggle to find reliable info on the procedure. My plan is to do it without engine out and instead move back the all assembly gearbox/shaft tube/differential/etc...backwards. 1) Is there anywhere in the forum or in the net some known info describing the procedure in detail and highlights do's & dont do's? 2) Is this also absolutely necessary to remove the middle console for access, or is it a nice to have? (dit it two times already but prefer to avoid!) 3) I saw that the clutch kit is the same as on 400s and 308s. Correct? Thanks for your answers, Benoit
Brian, I think what Benoit refers to is the parts Eurospares offer. They have a 3-piece clutch kit - FCLK001 - containing parts 121562 pressure plate, 110558 clutch disc, 100849 thrust bearing. The kit is listed as fitting most 208,308,Mondial,328,365,400 and 412. Scary if they list it as fitting if it ain't.
correct, i went mislead by eurospare. will have to triple check before buying kit, likely at OKP in Germany then. "fitting most" sounds a bit sketchy to me...
You do not need to remove the center console. Sliding the differential back is a little scary but frankly not that hard to do. Make sure you get the bolts loosened so the drive shaft will release. It is a really tight fit but the tranny will drop out the bottom without having to completely remove the shaft and rear end.
The V12 uses a much higher spring rating on the pressure plate. It is not the same part. One of the reasons I suppose I know of no professionals buying from Eurospares. Generally speaking we prefer suppliers who know what they are selling.
Thanks Brian, appreciate Your input. Superformance offers AP Automotive clutch kit for the classic V12's 365 GT4 2+2/GTC/400 at approx $440. Probably a more correct alternative.
