My car is at an independent mechanics right now getting the clutch done and I have a couple of questions. The clutch is getting replaced along with the flywheel and release bearing.

My question is this, should I replace the F1 position sensor? How do I know if its bad or needs replacing?

Second and more complicated, Ferrari is sending my mechanic an SD2 or SD3 to use as he is working on someones 458 that needs it and that customer has a VERY good relationship with a Ferrari Dealer... so my question is this, how easy is it to hook up this reader to my car and reset my clutch parameters? The mechanic is in the process of getting some new system that works with lambos, ferraris, etc. but doesn't know the time frame when he'll have it (its not the Leonardo). Anyways, is it hard to have the parameters reset because I don't want to drive my car to Ferrari 3 hours away and they might not do it for me anyway because they never did the clutch job for me.
Any help would be great. thanks!

Most people replace the sensor while in there. It's very hard to change later if it goes bad.
I admit I have done a few without changing it.
These are really questions for your mechanic.
Does he know how to use SD2/3?
Does he know how to set the PIS?
Does he find a fault with the F1 sensor?

He's never used the SD2/SD3 before that I know, this was why I was hoping there was a write up or someone that would walk me through it.
I'm not sure he knows how to set the PIS, what's involved?
And he didn't say he found a fault with the F1 sensor.

It's not a user friendly device. You need to know exactly what you're doing from training and experience. Some things are in Italian too. You may be better off just doing the mechanical replacements, bleeding the system and then just see how it drives, takes off from standstill etc.? I would go that route for a while rather than experiment with the SD tools.
