    Hi,

I had my clutch replaced fairly and I've been getting the runaround ever since... This is such a great car but my patience is really getting tested. I had the clutch replaced by a recommended independent mechanic and once I got the car back I felt the clutch didn't engage immediately. It actually felt worse than before I had to replace the clutch. The mechanic said I didn't know how to drive the car. So I drove it for about 500 kms and the clutch starts to beep. I look this up and find out that the clutch is overheating so I call him up. He comes by and tests it out and says I most likely need a new TCU (Throttle control unit?) I wasn't convinced so I took it to the dealer and they said the same thing.... they put it in and it doesn't solve the problem. Now the are pointing the problem to the F1 sensor magnet that may have been installed wrong/ direction position. However, they say the gearbox may need to come out. I've been told that the gearbox doesn't need to come out. Can anyone confirm? What would you do? Go back to the dealer? or independent? I'm pulling my hair out!

You can't take the magnet, or the arm that holds the magnet, our without removing the gearbox, then the slave cylinder. It is held in place by a small roll-pin. You can, however, remove the pis sensor without removing the gearbox. You can then look inside and inspect the arm. The screw-cap that holds the magnet in place should be facing toward the gearbox. It's more likely the clutch has been installed incorrectly, or fitted to a bad flywheel surface, or the pis sensor isn't working.

Thanks rustybits.... I'm not here to talk bad about the dealer or my independent mechanic, I just want the thing fixed with the least amount of cost. I live in Vancouver. I will try to get my independent to warranty his work, however, the clutch was done over a year ago and the car just hasn't been driven.
