    Hi All,
wondering if any of you guys can confirm my diagnosis of a clutch problem?
    History: 1985 308 euro QV
When i purchased the car the clutch pedal was about 1 1/2 " higher than brake pedal. Service records indicate new clutch at 19,500 miles, car now has 25,000 miles and no clutch noise or slipping at all just a high pedal. I adjusted the clutch linkage to within specs and brought pedal in alignment with brake pedal and now have a squealing noise when i take off from a stop when the clutch pedal is almost all the way out, noise stops when clutch pedal is out[noise lasts for fraction of second]. Noise is also heard when downshifting aggressively and letting pedal out, again fraction of second. when i looked at the parts list for clutch replacement in the service history it reads
    1- #121562K clutch kit
    1-#104214 seal
    1-#103775 O ring
    1-#114947 O ring
    1-#105137 nut
    1-#136527 seal

In the desciption it reads install clutch assembly, replace rear main seal and correctly adjust clutch. No mention of thrust or pilot bearings???

could they have unknowingly adjusted a bearing noise out of the clutch and when i adjusted the pedal to within specs the noise returned? As i have read the clutch is of the constant contact type. Not sure if i should leave it or put it back the way it was to get it through the summer and pull it apart this coming winter, planning on doing a major on it this coming winter any way. Should not have anything to do with it but i changed the gear oil to redline 75w-90ns at the same time as readjusting clutch pedal.
    What do you guys think??

    Thanks in advance
    Joe

    Hello There,
I have an older car but I suspect that if the release bearing is contacting the pressure plate correctly and It howls untill you put pressure on it when clutching I would say the bearing is on its way out..Maybe adjust the link to add more contact pressure then readjust the cable to bring the pedal back to where it belongs..I think the pedal should have from 3/8-1/2 inch of free travel before the shifter comes into play.
Again different model years but should be about the same set up.

You may be experiencing a failing master or slave. I caution against putting synthetic fluids in these old Italian cars it can mess with the seals... Just a thought.
